He ought to be flattered and deeply moved.
It is, indeed, a high compliment, for I am sure there are many (in the closet or out) out there.
Just because he is married and presumably straight (no idea, really, since many who are married are in the closet, and I would not want to give offense by assuming otherwise), there is no sign saying he is barred from being liked/crushed on by the same sex.
