CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

" Hey Latty….wassup??.." asked Yuvi casually as he sat down next to her on the canteen table….

Ashi and Nick were signaling from far away to Yuvi while Yuvi was trying to shoo them off….

" I'm fine…" replied Latty looking suspiciously at Yuvi…..and then turned behind to look where he was looking….but just in time…..Ashi and Nick fled from there….

She turned back at him….but still kept on looking suspiciously……

Yuvi was thinking desperately of something to speak….Yuvraj Dev!! He scolded himself…..cant u do such a simple thing?????? Ever since he had started dating Ashi…he had forgotten everything about the ways and means to impress different kinds of gals….

" Uh……aaj weather kitna accha hai na??..."

He felt like womitting…this was so damn pathetic to ask!!!! Now he seriously started doubting his impressing skills…..had he changed so much????

Apparently Latty seemed to think the same……coz she raised an eyebrow at Yuvi….

" Are u trying to kid me??? Tumhe kya chahiye…jaldi bolo…mere pass jyaada time nahi hain…"

But as it always happens….when someone whom u love…unexpectedly talks with u….u feel really happy…and though u say something else….u actually mean something else….and feel something different inside……and so it happened with Latty…even though she spoke harshly with Yuvi…the next second she felt extremely guilty for doing so…..n her tone became really soft……

" Uh….I mean…..thanks for asking….par tumhe jo bhi baat karni hai…zara jaldi karo please…..coz I hav to go....…" though secretly she wished that the moment should last forever….and to her immense surprise…Yuvi placed his hand on hers…..

" Look babes….I just wanted to ask…are u ok?? I mean…us din tum aise faint ho gayi thi…."

And inside Yuvi praised himself…that's it boy!!! Get going!! Now that's the real Yuvraj Dev!!! And he smiled to himself…..

Latty…thinking that he was smiling at him returned his smile….and blushed….but didn't remove her hand from beneath his…..but she became really suspicious again…..

" What about Ashi…aren't u guys going around anymore??..." her voice seemed rather hopeful…..

" Obviously we are…" said Yuvi removing his hand from above hers….. " But…can't I just ask u as a friend??? I mean…"

" Just get lost!!!.." she shouted and stood up…..and the whole canteen began staring at them….

" Hello…wat did I do???.." said Yuvi standing up himself…..

" Tumne meri feelings ke saath khela hain…"

" Oh Please!!!!.." said Yuvi rolling his eyes…..

But Latty stormed out of the canteen…..

Giggles started breaking out everywhere…..which broke the silence and tension that had filled the canteen wen Latty had suddenly stood up……now everyone started chatting as though nothing had happened…..Yuvi looking really confused and frustrated left from there…..

" Wat happened??? Hard luck???..." asked Ashi…making a thumbs-down with her hand….

Yuvi didn't say anything…just sat down like a rejected lover….

" Kya hua dude…tumhara old magic kaam nahi kar raha kya??..." asked Ashi…sitting down and putting a hand round his shoulders…..

" Yeh tumne kya kar diya Ashi??? U've killed the Yuvraj Dev-dude of Maurya!!!...I mean….mein ek simple si ladki ko impress nahi kar saka???.."

" Awwww…..poor u…!!! Aur woh bhi ek aisi ladki ko….jo already tumpe fida hain….!!!.." replied Ashi teasingly….while Yuvi gave her a sour look...

" Yuvi…maybe u made the wrong move…." Said Nick thoughtfully…." Maybe this wasn't the way in which u shud've approached her…."

" But dude…"

" Look dude….I know…u r 'the Yuvraj Dev' par kabhi kabhi…sirf vohi kaafi nahi hota…u hav to be really tactful in latty's case…"

" Nick tum har cheez ko ek challenge ki tarah kyun treat karte ho??? I mean…just chill ok…!!! Take it easy…" said Ashi in a lazy voice….

" This is the first and the last time u'll say this Anvesha Banerjee Ray…" his voice wasn't harsh or rude…but it was definitely cool….

Ashi's smile was wiped from her face…..

" This is precisely why…I don't want people like u in my agency…"

Ashi felt extremely hurt at this …..

However she didn't retaliate…if it wud've been anyone but Nick…she wud've gone n slapped the person…then n there….but with Nick…it seemed different…..she had developed tremendous respect for him….however she did feel a bit angry…..

" Nick…that's not fair ok….u can't judge me like that!!.."

" Look Ashi…don't get me wrong…but in my profession…u just can't be casual like this….u just can't wait n watch till it happens…one second delay….and the world may change….everything u hav to take as a challenge…..and if u don't…..u can never reach to the bottom of anything…..tumhe mujhse poocha tha na Ashi….ki tum meri help kyun nahi kar sakti????.."

Ashi nodded her head….

" Coz I don't want u in any danger…..in this profession…every second can be ur last second…every breath can be ur last breath….." he said…looking directly at her now…for the time-being…both of them seemed to forget that Yuvi was there with them in the shed……

" Yahaan….'winning' ya 'losing' koi importance nahi rakhta…..kyunki har insan ke liye….uske definitions alag alag ho sakte hain….jo meri jeet hain…vo tumhari haar ho sakti hain…..ya phir kabhi kabhi yeh bhi ho sakta hain…..ki jeetne ke baad bhi…tumhe haar mehsoos ho……par tumne agar is choti si haar ko apni haar maan li….toh tum life mein kabhi jeet nahi paaoge…..apne feelings….apne emotions….kabhi kabhi toh apni principles bhi sacrifice karni padti hain….."

For a minute both were silent….

" Toh phir tum yeh poochogi….ki hum yeh profession kyun lete hain??? Kyunki yehi meri life hain…iske bina main incomplete hoon…isse jo satisfaction mujhe milti hain…vo shayad aur kisi profession se nahi milti…" he replied smiling for the first time in minutes…..

Ashi smiled back at him…..but her smiled was restrained…..

" Main bhi bilkul tumhari tarah tha ashi….apne college mein…mujhe bhi thrills bahut pasand the…..mujhe usse ajeeb si khushi milti thi….I loved to play with danger…..that's why I chose this profession….but u need to be a bit more patient Ashi…warna tum life mein kuch bhi haasil nahi kar sakogi…..take everything that comes in ur way as a challenge….u can never win anything unless u become obsessed with it…..bahut jee liya tumne apna college life….now face the real world!!!.."

Ashi looked at him in amazement…..she didn't know wat to say……

Yuvi coughed a little….whether it was done deliberately or unknowingly….but anyways…..it brought Ashi and Nick to the realization that Yuvi was still there with them…..

" So Ashi….I'm not against u helping me…..I just want u to think of everything that I've told u just now…..agar uske baad bhi….u want to join me in this profession…..then fine…I'm ready to welcome u with my open arms…." He said…and literally he threw open his arms…..

At this point Ashi really felt like going and hugging this amazing person…never had she met someone like Nick….he was so mature….n so intelligent…..n so balanced…..just the right kind of friend she always needed….not that I love him of course…..but maybe…more like a mentor……

She smiled at him……

" Ok guys….now u both hav to get going…" said Nick realizing that Yuvi had started feeling out of place…..

" And Yuvi…don't worry….but don't give up….try until u achieve it…..kal phir se usse baat karne ki koshish karo…..ok??.." said Nick smiling….

" Right Nick…!!! Thanks a lot…" said Yuvi returning the smile….

And he left the shed with Ashi….
