He could have said plenty...divulged a lot..exposed and argued till Shyam was proved the most despicable creature in the whole world...he could have thrashed him to bits...and dont tell me he did not want to...do u know him and his hot headed temperament...but he could not...
Throughout the whole scene...his only concern ...how to protect his sister...who is already subject to the worst realities of life...how to save her health...how to protect her sanity from further damage...how to lessen and control the damage...he wanted to lessen the damning impact on her heart and her soul...coz he knows his di is not capable of standing up...thinking logically...he knew how weak she was..emotionally and psychologically...
He tried to avoid it at all costs...if anjali could have been removed from the scene...shyam would have been dead...he tried to take his di away and would have dealt with shyam later...but not shyam would not allow his shield...ranisahibaa to leave...coz he knew he would be nothing without that protection in front of ASR...
Lets keep in mind that the man actually married Khushi ..went to the ends of the earth to avoid this same scene...but today he had had to step in the cesspool too...
He tried to limit the whole scene...just couple of minutes...minimum shocking words...or dialouges...coz he wanted to be rid of the vermin but sans the drama...he just simply said what was needed and put a short and sweet full stop to the whole digusting business...
He knew the damage was done...anjali's word had shattered...he did not want to crush the pieces into oblivion...his first priority was his sister and her plight...and notice how he was the only one concerned about her...actually i was surprised that no one else bothered about anjalis detoriating condition...only ASR stood by her...
Nothing...nothing ...would have made him add to his sister's burdens...but Khushi and only Khushi could do it...and today she did it...for her sake ...only for his Khushi did he add to his sister's already heart breaking woes...he knew what he did killed his Di but he did it for his wife..till then to his discredit as a husband and to his credit as a brother...he kept a tight rein on his emotions and temper...he is the best brother in the world but he knows that as a husband he has been the worst...it was time to finally stand up for wife...she needed him ...so for her...for the first time in his life...he put his sister aside...
Khushi and Arnav...have suffered and will suffer more than anjali in this whole scenario...I pity ASR today for all the power he possesses...he still had his hands tied..
And amazing how the essence of ASR was kept intact...a man of few words..tactiturn...brooding...only three set of dialogues...the least but the most lasting..yes...it was little late...it was little less...but it was vintage ASR.
P.S...arnav has not earned any brownie points today from me...rather contrary...but his characterization was what it should have been...getting into a fish fisht is not ASR..and putting his DI aside even for a second is not ASR again...
