"Come on Khushi, it's very late now. We need to go home!" Arnav said trying to pull Khushi away from the crowd. She was dancing her heart out, not caring about anyone else.
"Arnav! Such a nice song is playing aur tum mujhe ghar lekar jaana chahte ho? Main nahi jaungi, tumhe jaane hai to chale jao. Bye!" She turned around away from him leaving him in a helpless state. He regretted allowing her to drink even a single beer and now the effect was showing on her. Dressed in leggings and top which was tight around her bust and flew out from there, she was looking really cute. Her long hair danced around her face as she moved her body to the music.
All I Wanna Do Is Stay Right Here On The Floor
Get Lost In The Night And Dance Like There's No Tomorrow
The song and the ambience were getting the better of her. Although she was getting bored dancing alone she knew if she asked Arnav to dance with her he would only ask her to come with him. She danced for some more time alone until she was fed up of dancing alone and turned to Arnav who just stood there admiring her, already forgotten what he was convincing her of.
"Arnav, please dance with me na!" She folded her hands in front of him, pleading him to dance with her. "Please, please, please..." Her baby face was back.
He smiled looking at the cute innocent baby in front of him. "For the last time, okay?" He just couldn't bring himself to refuse her.
I'm Lovin The Atmosphere
Feels Like I'm Floatin' In Heaven
The Music's All In My Ear
Takin' Over Me, My Heart's Racin'
The lyrics couldn't be better. She was on the top of the world today and was dancing her heart out, living the happiness and the feeling of being with him. When she was so tired of all the dancing that she had done in the evening she just flung her arms around Arnav and rested until she was able to get up.
"Khushi, are you okay sweety?" Arnav asked patting her cheek, concerned.
Khushi opened her eyes in a daze with all the effort she could put in. "I am alright Arnav," touching his cheek dreamily, "I love you!" With that she kept her head on his shoulder, the place where she belonged always. Her hands encircled his waist and she clung onto him like second skin. She started dancing slowly, even though it was a hippy number, she couldn't care less. Her thoughts wandered off to the day they confessed their love to each other, or rather Arnav did, and the next day too. The memory made her smile wider than ever.
~*flashback*~
"You really admire them, don't you?" Arnav glanced at the book in Khushi's hands and couldn't help but chuckle. They were walking back to Khushi's house in the evening. A slight breeze was blowing. It was about to rain. The cool was everywhere; it was a weather that the Dilliwalas wanted in the month of October after the nonstop heat. He had seen her read that play over and over again, god knows how many times. He wondered what she loved so much in it to read it again and again.
"What? This?" She signalled to the book in her hands as Arnav nodded. "Of course I love them! Why do you think I keep on reading it over and over again?"
"You believe in making sacrifices for love?" Arnav asked out of nowhere, shocking Khushi for an instant at the course of the conversation. "Do you really think Romeo and Juliet exist in real life?"
Khushi gazed at the lost Arnav for some time. The sombre expression on his face told her everything. She was quite used to Arnav talking about things seriously in the middle of a carefree conversation and she loved this part of him. "Love is nothing without sacrifices Arnav. If you can't sacrifice anything for the person whom you love, your love for the person is itself doubtful. I don't think its love at all! Love is all about sacrifices and finding the smallest of the smallest happiness amidst it." Khushi gave an honest reply. "And if love really exists, then Romeo and Juliet also exist'" She smiled as she the last words. She silently wondered if Arnav was her Romeo. She couldn't help but imagine him with her.
"How do you want your love story to be?" Arnav stopped in middle of his track and turned to look at Khushi.
"I just want it to be a fulfilling love story. I don't know if that makes sense to you at all."She chuckled and did not say anything further but turned to look at him.
"Tell me Khushi..." His voice had suddenly become hoarse and husky. "Tell me." He repeated. His voice had sent shivers down her spine. Just like it always did when he spoke like that. It was as if they captured her in a trance.
"I want it like that. I don't know if my love story will have a happy ending or not, but at the end I should feel like even if it hasn't ended as a happy one, at least it made me feel love, made me feel loved and wanted by a person. That's what I mean by fulfilling- fulfilling all my desires of loving and being loved. When one person is all you need to lead your life, when that one person is the sunshine of your life." They were almost at Khushi's doorstep. Khushi smiled as she articulated her feelings about love, and unknowingly about Arnav.
Arnav made her look at him as he turned her around. He entwined his fingers with hers. He did not know what he was doing; he never wanted to know what he was doing. He was just following his heart. He took one step ahead towards her. The effect was mutual. The breathing was erratic, heart beats constantly rising. Tension had engulfed them suddenly. Khushi was lost in the moment, as was Arnav.
"Will you take this Roadside Romeo for your lover then?" Arnav said, rather whispered in her ear. He was not able to see her face. He closed his eyes, waiting for her reaction. Rain started pouring over them, drenching the two souls in love. He didn't get any reaction. He was partly confused. He expected her to say something, but she did not. He pulled back to see her face.
Her eyes were closed, still taking in what she had heard just now. He could see her chest heaving up and down. Her breath came in sharply. Her mind was blank, without a trace of thought. Her heart had stopped beating; it could feel nothing but the person who stood close to her. His name escaped her quivering lips.
"Arnav..." was all she could say. It was her desire to have a man like him and today she had her desire and her love fulfilled.
Arnav traced the edges of her face with his fingers. The rain made her seem beautiful than ever. Her eyes were still closed. His fingers were tracing her lips. She was shaking in the cold. An urgent desire to warm her overtook him. He wanted to hug her with all his might. He didn't know how Khushi would react but reason was beyond him now. He was acting on impulse.
"I love you Khushi'" he stared at her parted lips, quivering in want of some warmth. He captured her lips for a kiss and let his love warm them. It wasn't long, yet it was special, special for both of them. He broke the kiss and engulfed her into a hug. Cupid had taken over him. He had wanted to confess Khushi about his feelings for her from a long while, but not like this. He didn't even know how had he wanted to tell her how much she meant to him, how much he loved her. He just stood there in the middle of the road. Khushi snuggled closer to him; it was an involuntary reaction on her part. She always belonged in his arms. She knew how long she had waited patiently to feel him beside her, how she longed to be in his arms. She was mesmerized beyond doubt. It was like her dream come true.
On the other hand, Arnav was getting more and more confused at her behaviour. She had not spoken a word for eternity and the silence was killing him. He parted from her and took in her beautiful face. Taking two steps back he wondered if had done the right thing. With a last look at her face, he went from there.
"I love you too Arnav..." Khushi finally managed to whisper as she opened her eyes watching Arnav walk away.
Next Day
Arnav rang the bell fiddling with his fingers. He had spent the entire night thinking of what to say to Khushi. He had not heard the last words she spoke as he left her and took her silence for rejection. He loved her. But if there was one thing he could not bear at any cost, was not seeing her every day. He could not imagine his life without her. No one could fill that void. It was early morning, and it struck to him that she might not have even woken up. He heard some commotion and thanked his stars that his lazy bear Khushi had woken up. He lowered his face; he did not have the strength to look her in the eyes. The door clicked open and Khushi gasped as she saw him well dressed and neat. She was still in her pyjamas and looked kind of shabby next to him. Though according to Arnav, she looked very adorable. His eyes reluctantly rested on her face. he wanted nothing more to devour her right there and then, but he knew that it was no longer possible.
"I know that what I did yesterday was not acceptable, I shouldn't have kissed you like that. I am sorry for what I did. I don't know what got over me. I can understand if you are still mad at me. You have every right to be so... I just want that..." He was silenced by her finger on his lips. She too one step towards him, determined to make him feel her love for him. She had let him go disappointed last night. She would make sure that this would be the happiest morning of their life.
"Arnav Singh Raizada, won't you kiss your Juliet in pyjamas?" Arnav was shocked as he heard her speak. All the while he was looking down. But her words made him look up at her in a daze. I am dreaming. Is this true? Did she just say she is my Juliet? My? He was about to pinch himself to convince himself that it was happening to him, before she went even closer to him.
"You are not dreaming. I love you and I can't help it." A small smile was playing on her lips. His joy mounted to unimaginable heights. He saw Khushi smiling down at him. Taking his face between her hands, she looked him in the eyes full of love. "I love you, Arnav. I will always love you..." and then she kissed him with all that she had. It took him a moment to register that it was really happening. He felt her lips on his. He took in a sharp breath and granted her the access that she so desperately wanted. They devoured each other there and then. Needless to say, it was the happiest moment of their lives. As they broke out from the kiss, they were still looking at each other. He leaned in towards her face again and kissed her lower lip. He traced the edges of her lips with his and then moved onto her eyes. He withdrew then. Their foreheads and noses touched. Arnav bent a little lifted her in the air. Khushi arched her body backwards and looked up at the sky with her hands open, welcoming the new found happiness.
~*flashback ends*~
Arnav smiled through her hair. She was his baby and he loved when she would innocently admit being in love with him, time and again, on the smallest of the occasions. After staying like that for a few minutes, he gently lifted up her head and said, "Now we will go home, okay?" Khushi composed herself the very moment and saluted him.
"Aye, aye Captain!" Arms in arms, they walked out of the club.
*~*~*~*
He opened the door for her, she smiled widely at him. "Ma'am, appka ghar agaya!"
She was looking out of the window when he nudged her. She was lost in her thoughts. She was startled when he said that she was home. She turned her face towards him. They were both still seated in his car. After gazing at his angelic face for an eternity, their eyes locked into each other, she shifted in her seat and got down from the car. She hurried away to his side and opened the door. Arnav grinned.
"Role reversal, eh?" H smirked as he got out. She dismissed his comment and took his left hand in her right one and with the other one, she gently closed the door. She now held both his hands. She stood there like that.
Arnav couldn't help but admire her beauty which knew no bounds in the faint moonlight. It was an angel had descended from heaven, just for him. She was still tipsy. He had jokingly challenged her to two beers tonight. But Khushi was Khushi. She never let go of a challenge. She drank. And surprisingly she had liked it. It wasn't that he was complaining. He liked her when she was tipsy. She would do all the cute stuff without any hesitation. He wanted go on and on about her. But alas! Words were never his friends.
"Khushi..." His voice was hoarse. Her proximity to him did miracles. Their breathing hitched.
"Hmmm...?" She looked up from his hands into his eyes. She could drown in them.
"What are we doing here?"
"I don't know." She replied, confused. "I... I just... wanted to hold you like this." She signalled to the position in which they were standing. She now let go of his hands and clasped them behind his neck. She went closer to him. She snuggled into his chest. His hands wound up around her waist, holding her close to him. They spent a few minutes standing there like that. No one said anything. It was as if their hearts were conversing in a language known only to them.
"Do you want to go inside now?" He whispered gently in her ear. He felt her nod against him. He placed a soft kiss on the nape of her nape before letting her go. He could see that her cheeks were now a shade of deep red. He could not get enough of seeing her cheeks colour like that every time he touched her. She went ahead without him and Arnav followed her inside.
As they entered, Arnav went up to Khushi's bedroom and made sure that the windows and the doors to the balcony were open. Just as Khushi came out of the kitchen, he hurried back to the living room.
"What are you upto?" Khushi asked suspiciously.
"Me? What did I do?" He said without thinking. "Oh haan! I was searching for the washroom..."
"Washroom waha thodi hai na? It is on the opposite side and you are not coming here for the first time."
"Me? Oh yes! I... I forgot. Maybe I had too much to drink tonight." Truth be told, he had not gone past a beer. He had plans for tonight.
"Ab yaad aa gaya?"
"Yes... yes... now I remember it... Thanks Khushi, you're such a sweetheart!" Khushi shook her head at Arnav's nonsense replies. She was sure something was fishy about the way he was behaving, but chose to stay quiet.
After some time, Arnav had gone away, or this is what Khushi thought. She was in for a surprise today and Arnav made sure that it would be the best one in her life. He smiled to himself remembering her cute face when she had cut the cake in the club. They were celebrating their first year together. The same day, last year they had confessed to each other that they were in love with each other, it was the best day of their lives. Arnav had suggested a monthly anniversary but Khushi had refused. She wanted the day to be special, something to be looked forward to and tonight, he was going to propose her.
He patiently waited outside her house and then looking for an appropriate moment, he would make his move. It was already 2 in the night. The effect of beer would have worn out by now and he was sure Khushi would have gone to sleep. He wished that she hadn't closed the doors and windows to her balcony. He climbed up the pipe to her house and landed on the balcony. To his relief, they were still open. As he entered inside he saw her sleeping peacefully, fully smiling and muttering something under her breath. He went closer to her too listen what she is saying.
"I love you Arnav..." She shuffled in her sleep. Arnav, I love you so much. Please never leave me..." He smiled at what he just heard.
"I will never leave you sweetheart!" He whispered under his breath. He took out the ring from his pocket. It was a beautiful ring made of silver with a big blue sapphire in the shape of a heart in the centre and two small diamonds shaped like hearts on each side. He had chosen the ring on first sight and did not even look at the others. He was sure that Khushi would like this. He sat beside Khushi on her bed and took her hands in his. Then, leaning towards her, he patted her cheek gently and called out her name.
"Khushi, wake up, it's me." Khushi just stirred in her sleep. He then shook her gently and she finally opened her eyes. At first she thought she was dreaming and closed her eyes and went back to sleep. Arnav slipped the ring onto her ring finger. As she felt a cold metal touching her skin, she opened her eyes with a start to see him smiling down at her. She immediately sat up in bed and before she could say anything, Arnav pulled her into a hug and whispered.
"I love you Khushi. You mean the world to me. You are my happiness and I am nothing without you. Will you marry me?" He silently waited for her answer in that position.
Meanwhile Khushi looked at the beautiful ring in her hands. She touched the beautiful piece of jewellery in her hands and as Arnav had thought, she loved what she saw. She was shocked, surprised and happy, overwhelmed, loved and numerous other emotions were erupting inside her. She never though Arnav will propose her tonight. Her hands went around his back and she hugged him tightly.
"I will...!" She whispered into his ear and pulling back a bit, she kissed him on his cheek. She lingered there for a while, taking in his scent. She didn't want to move. Arnav was on cloud nine after hearing what she just said. He pulled back from the hug and looked at her with slight tears in his eyes. An ocean of love was there in both the pairs of eyes present in the room.
"Thank you Khushi' thank you so much!" Arnav said looking back at her. "You gave me all the happiness in the world today."
"You did so much more than that for me Arnav."
The heat and the passion were too much for them to handle. Their proximity was killing them. They both leaned in. Arnav took in her quivering lips with his own, sealing them with his love. His hands went behind her and pulled her close, wanting to make himself one with her. She responded and her hands were in his hair now, guiding his mouth towards her, both of them tasting each other. They parted. Their breath was short and ragged. As their eyes took in each other, they darkened with a passion unknown to them. Then they knew. They knew that they needed each other desperately. They could no longer wait. Arnav searched her eyes for any hesitation in them. There was none. She was sure of him. This feeling filled his insides with overwhelming warmth. She trusted him.
Khushi leaped in for his lips. She needed him urgently. His hands roamed over her back making her shiver all over. The room was laden with electricity between them.
"Arnav..." She said hoarsely. This was the last straw for him. He could not hold himself any longer. He pushed her to the middle of the bed and covered her body with his as he continued to taste her. His lips reached her collarbone tasting every single cell on her body. Her hands clutched the sides of the bed sheet as she moaned.
His hands slid under the loose night suit top she was wearing and caressed the soft porcelain skin that lay underneath. He rolled over so that she was on top of him now. His hands started from her waist and reached up to her breast taking the top with them. With one swift movement, he threw it to the other end of them room. He could not believe his eyes. She was so beautiful. Her loose hair hung about her face, guarding her darkened eyes. She could not bear having him look at her like this. She feverishly started undoing his shirt buttons, urgency evident in her every movement. Arnav steadied her hands and helped her undo his shirt. He heard her gasp as she took in his naked torso. Her hands now traced the outline of his muscled chest and abs.
She felt him grow hard underneath her. She could not contain herself anymore. She placed urgent kissed on his chest while sending waves of pleasure through him. He rolled over again and pinned her to the bed. He looked into her eyes, which mirrored his every emotion.
"I love you Khushi."
"I love you too Arnav." She stretched her neck for his lips but he pulled back, a mischievous smile on his lips. He was teasing her. "Stop the tease, Arnav Singh Raizada. I want you."
"Really?" He asked.
"Absolutely."
