See, if we think about it then how Viraj is taken by the audience lies with the audience's perception...they haven't necessarily placed him on a pedestal and asked people to look up to him...in fact, some of the things he does should be enough to convince even those that idolize him that something is wrong.
No one in the show, except for Viraj himself, has respect for him. Janvi used to but he broke that trust. His mother was acting as any mother would - always hopeful because that is in their nature. Priya - was just there for his wealth. If you look at Unniyal, even he is opposed to his evil - he just goes along with it to spare his own life. He only wants Janvi to return to Viraj so that he can get on with his life, not because he is supportive of their relationship. In that sense, no, the CVs have not shown support for his character. He has no one's respect but his own for himself.
BUT, the kind of power he has is what I suppose appears attractive to some. Why? I don't know. And it scares me, it really does. To think that someone in reality, outside of a TV show, would be able to inflict that kind of pain and attain pleasure from it and have no remorse - it's disturbing.
They can't change how they've shown Viraj because they reinforce his personality every episode but I guess as someone suggested in this thread earlier, a disclaimer at the beginning of the show is the least they can do although that would seem to have very little impact considering what people see in the show itself.
When has Viraj ever lost? When has he ever felt out of control? Sad? Never. And until that changes, he will remain a hero for some.
