What a brilliant episode! The best!...so far! Well done to all!
Take a bow Anas Rashid. For the first time ever, I cried while watching a telly serial...and thank you Navyaalex8 for making me watch.
I'll try to explain why I thought it was so good...
Sandy making lifafas scene : I liked the way she was so ensconced, so comfortable. Sitting there in the middle of the room doing something for her husband, wondering about his state of mind. Paper everywhere. Door open, waiting for him to return. She's got some energy and life in her now and is almost that old Sandy. Suraj arrives. All the familiar looks and silent acknowledgments. Those 2 and we know how sishya Sandy always tries and guru Suraj always helps her. He has to repair her efforts, all the while silently encouraged that she's still trying. His work, his shop, his reputation is still important to her. But now she even recounts to him how much his reputation is worth in Pushkar. It was a very wifely thing she was doing, even if she didn't know it.
Sandy Preeti convo: I used to be a bit harsh on Preeti before, but now I think what she did is going to LIGHT this Diya aur Baati! Thank you Preeti! Sandy tells Preeti what we all needed to hear. Then she ascends those stairs with the kind of grace that only a woman who knows her mind, and knows her purpose can possess.
Suraj : What is there to say about a shattered man? Made all the more poignant by a wife who doesn't know what has just happened and is coming back to him. Those two scenes together added that final touch. His heart was broken not bit by bit but with a huge blow. How he remained standing I don't know. Clutching that piece of paper. Paper. It has played a big part in their interactions. Education, and the lack thereof. The written word and how powerful it is. So powerful that it crushed a man. He holds on to it as he hears her payal approaching.
Last scene: She knows he's upset, but is still heartbreakingly unaware of her innocent oversight of not getting rid of that piece of paper. Suraj, numb with sadness. How is anyone meant to watch without falling in love with them both?
