For people who have been around for a long time this seems natural but newcomers don't know the existance of such a thread unless it is pointed out.

I also had a question locked a long time back but without any explanation. I kept quiet and then noticed the pattern and on looking around carefully realised the reason.

So please try to be patient with the newbies. After all it is not just them who used to jump up and down for updates
