"Chachu hurry up!! We are getting late!! It is already 10:00 am. All the stores will be open by now!" Reya yelled as she ran downstairs grabbing her jacket off of the hook.
"Oh don't rush your Chachu beta! He has had a longg night," Akash said mischievously, "Right Bhai?"
"Shut up," Arnav commanded not in the mood to hear Akash's taunting. New Years was just around the corner and they were still gift less! What where they going to do!? I am so dead. Why does it matter though? I am Arnav Singh Raizada. She will just have to go without a gift, he thought to himself assuringly.
"Are you all ready!?!? We have things to do!" Reya complained.
"Beta where are you going?" Payal asked as she came out of the kitchen to see her daughter jumping up and down in excitement.
"Oh Mama! I am just going out with Papa and Chachu since they need my..." Reya explained only to be cut off by her Chachu who quickly put a hand on her mouth. Why does she need to talk so much!? Her mom doesn't talk at all! Could she not be like her?? No! Off course not! She had to take on the other Gupta gene. The non-stop talking one...
"Is everything okay?" Khushi asked curiously when she saw Arnav holding Reya... by the mouth? Has he gone mad? She is a child! He can't boss her around too!!
"Yes everything is fine! We have to go now though so bye!" Akash swiftly responded and walked out of the house rapidly with Arnav and Reya on his shoes.
"What is up with those two?" Anjali Di asked, walking out of the mandhir with a thaali in her hands.
"Oh nothing Di. I think they have recovered from their slight amnesia!" Payal said, smiling at the antics her husband would go to. She looked over at Khushi to see a similar look as she leaned over to watch Arnav leave the house.
So they went to the warm clothes section, in hopes of getting something which would keep them warm during the cold. Akash had bought a couple of scarfs and sweaters matching to the sarees he had bought for Payal but Arnav had not bought either. He had reasoned with himself that Khushi would not need any of that and honestly is did not seem like a great present. When Akash had questioned Arnav why he was not buying anything he had reminded him that they he was looking for things for Khushi who was very hard to please.
Now standing in the jewelry section, Arnav could feel himself slipping into despair since even there he could not find anything for Khushi.
"Chachu look at this! It is perfect with the red saree you bought Masi! And it will look great on her!" Reya called out as she saw her Chachu's depressed face.
Arnav walked over to see a really heavy set which immediately told him it was not for Khushi. She never wore heavy jewelry since she did not feel comfortable.
"Reya! What nonsense! You know your Masi does not wear such things!" Arnav blasted, forgeting he was talking to his sweet little niece who was very diabolical at mind.
"Chachu! I am helping you and you are yelling at me?! What is wrong with you Chachu!? After all of the things I have done for you!? This is the way you repay me!? That is it! I refuse to help you anymore! The little alliance we had there? Ya it is so over, " Reya pouted as she stomped out of the store.
"Reya... Reya!" Arnav called after her as she walked away.
"Oh Bhai! Look at what you have done! Now what?!" Akash questioned.
"Oh shut up Akash! You know how what I had to do to get her to come?! I had to buy her a PS3 and a Wii!!" Arnav shouted.
"What?! That much!? Just for a shopping trip?!" Akash asked in horror.
"Well how was I supposed to know that your daughter could even have the guts to challenge me?! I should have remembered to not give her the things before the shopping trip was over!" Arnav muttered.
"You already gave her the stuff?! Bhai what is wrong with you!? I hope for your new year's resolution you are planning on becoming a better businessman since you just conned by a 6 year old, " Akash pointed out, feeling proud of his little angel.
"Really? Thanks Akash. Let's not talk about how she cons you!" Arnav taunted.
He had seen the way his niece had gotten things she wanted from her Papa but had never assumed she would do that to him! She would sweet talk him and tell him that she was his little princess until he caved in and gave her what she wanted. Arnav always felt pride when he saw his niece being so smart, but now when the tables had been turned, he did not feel the same.
"Let's go get her," Arnav sighed and went the way Reya had gone.
They found her sitting in the car all packed up to go. When they questioned her about the shopping trip, she kind of just ignored them until they made her answer.
"Well Chachu, we had a deal but that does not mean you will use me to your advantage and not even acknowledge my help. I think due to the circumstances that you have brought upon yourself, we will need to renegotiate this deal," Reya concluded smiling when she saw her Chachu's shocked expression.
"Shabash Beta! When did you learn such big words?!" Akash asked proudly.
"It's called a dictionary Papa. Get one. It might help you a bit," Reya said as she turned around to look out the window nonchalonetly.
"Ouch man. She told you," Arnav commented, smirking when he saw the look on Akash's face.
"You know what?! Fine! Let's go home!" Akash concluded, not wanting to be the center of the joke anymore.
