as for a good an ORIGINAL sci fi flick in India...I doubt that's gonna happen soon 😆 I don't think much of KMG-Krrish series either...

I think SRK only wanted to take a step forward in terms of special effects in BW films. He thinks special effects makes a sci-fi film...and in the process overlooked the fact that story is important as well...

You know when i was watching rockstar.. i was thinking this.. why do all indian movies just have the same old stories.. pyaar, mohobbat, dukh dard.. they can't think beyond it.. coz love is the cheapest thing to show in movies.. paisa nahi lagta.. romantic movies bananey mein.. aur jyada dimag bhi nahi lagta.. 😆 that is why every third indian movie is a love story.. its good that they are attempting the sci fi genre... i would take it anyday over another 1000000000000000000000th love story coming out of bollywood.. but then again sci fi mein bhi originality ki kami hai.. still i hope this genre is explored more in our movies.

Romance sells in BW/with the junta yaar..isliye all movies have some romantic track in it, no matter what the actual theme of the film is 😆

Comedy, romance, and action (now) are the three safest genres in BW...most of the films falling in these categories do well ..provided they're marketed well and have popular people..tehy work no matter how bad they are 😆

Yeah sci-fi is something new..I'd love to continue seeing it, but the desi audience still hasn't accepted it fully...the perception is that its boring..

Waise...in terms of love stories, BW has gotten very lazy...there have been very few love stories worth remembering over the last few years...

The Oscars aren't really kind to sci-fi movies (outside of technical categories). And originality is becoming increasingly rare even in Hollywood. Hey cinema is over 100 years old now, so it's not surprising that we aren't exactly being flooded with totally original ideas. 😆

I don't think desi movies should obsess over the Oscars. Just concentrate on good stories and characters, and experiment with more genres.

Yup that movie is awesome. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. I think Shekhar Kapur and Salim-Javed did a great job at fusing the western sci-fi/superhero genre(s) with desi sensibilities. 😊

I was talking about an oscar for best foreign picture.. we have been trying for that award for a long long time... we have been nominated a couple of times... but haven't won yet.. you seem like a bachchan fan.. amitji also said who cares about oscars.. when SDM won a lot of them.. 😆 About originality.. copy karna hai toh legally karo.. and adapt them in a better and more believable way..

And I wasn't talking specifically copying movies. I was referring to the fact the entertainment industries (of the world in general) aren't overflowing with truly original ideas anymore.

Yea but still movies from other countries have better production value.. and they seem more fulfilling.. believable.. i think i am overall losing my interest in bollywood.. everything seem amateurish.. under-researched.. my connection to it is from the fact that i have grown watching these movies.. and khans... i am not able to connect with ranbirs imrans.. ranveers.. the way i connected with khans in late 90s.. maybe when khans will go away.. i will lose all my connection to indian movies.
