It is amazing the way he managed to survive the contest, despite constant discouragement and condemnation by the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa EMAT GGs, his own partner, and some co-participants. The 'culture shock' that he was subjected to was not an easy thing to handle. The cut throat competition that he was exposed to in Bombay, and the practices indulged in to deal w/ that, were obviously overwhelming. Yet this boy did not lose his calm and continued to perform.
The issue of "Phone conversation between Sanchali and Vishwas" was trivialized by all in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa EMAT team. However, it must be remembered that Rajiv comes from a small town where a degree of cohesiveness and bonding is still maintained, where traditions and customary etiquette still hold value. The 'open' bitching and griping appears to be an acceptable trend in the film industry. An industry where unprofessional behavior reigns supreme and egos dictate decorum, where show of respect is governed by money power, as evidenced by the behaviors of Challenge 2005 mentors and the star invitees. (Though in lighter vein, the Indian politician far exceed the film industry folks in this behavior).
The act of telephonic conversation conducted with the speaker phone on, between Sanchali and Vishwas, was a VERY SLY thing to do. Mr. Paresh Rawal may have done more justice had he modified his statement and advised Rajiv that he will not get anywhere in life if he bothered himself with "BEHAVIOR WHICH WAS SO TRIVIAL FOR THE FILM INDUSTRY AND THE METROPOLITAN / BIG CITY SELF-CENTERED/SELF-PROMOTING CULTURE." I cannot forget the look on Rajiv's face after that advice, which seemed to ask, "was that a trivial thing?"
This young man needs a break in his life. He and his family appear to be under great financial stress. I am approaching all those listeners, who are his fans, and, those who have heard him sing on the last day, or those in positions of power, to organize "credible and open to inspection" fund raising for him. He may use this money to make an album of Sufi style and Punjabi folk songs, which he does best. The sales proceeds may relieve his financial stress. I will be happy to chip in. Since I am based in USA, I am not aware of how this can be achieved. Suggestions are welcome from people located in USA or India. DOES ANYONE HAVE RAJIV'S ADDRESS/PHONE NUMBER OR PRESENT CONTACT INFORMATION?
I hope Rajiv will grab Mr. Hari Haran's offer to learn music from him. In the end, I only reiterate what Mr.Ismail Darbar & Mr. Aadesh Shrivastava have already said. Rajiv can be a wonder star singer if he can perfect all his 'surs.' Additionally, he must learn to control his emotions from interfering with his profession.
This is with best wishes to Rajiv.
