First My deep regret for taking Dickens classic and for mauling Sidney Carton beyond recognition..Now to the Episode ..
Shud I feel happy that Khushi has correctly decoded Devi Mayya's signs and has understood that she has got a Bhukar that can never be treated , A bhukar from which one never wants to recover or shud one feel sad that Khushi has realized the futility of her love, the single tear testimony of her acceptance that Arnav is much above her station.. the young duckling has turned into a gorgeous swan almost in a blink of an eye ...
Now to the 2 cities ;
The first instance is between LA & Khushi ; I was pretty much surprised to see the difference in the approach of the two women in dealing with Arnav's recalcitrant stance..La comes to Arnav , tells him to come down cos everybody wants him down ..A statement calculated to raise the hackles of any egoistical man and Arnav has it in plenty ..Naturally he digs in his heels, flatly refusing to move an inch.. as a final resort ..La pulls out ANJALI WANTS IT CARD ...The reaction, i am already doing ENOUGH for Di..faced with a wall like resistance ..LA departs , beaten back , defeated by a master player ...
Next comes Khushi, flustered, flurried ..half apologetic, half requesting.. indicates the wish of his sister without making it as Anjali's command ..professes understanding of his situation , brings him to amenable frame of mind but he is not fully amenable.. she then genuinely states that there is no need for him to disturb his schedule for her sake and that she will try to manage on her own .. A polite statement , not demanding not commanding but genuine guaranteed to melt any Man..Needless to say Arnav Melts n joins them..
The NEXT CITIES ;
this ofc will be Arnav and Shyam;
The difference ,Uff the difference between this two men ...Khushi is in distress , she is shaken to the core by her new found discovery .. She is astounded by the fact that she is in LOVE with a man whom she would, could and shud not have loved .. She is anguished by her tears when comes Shyam bringing with him Tea and her favorite Jalebi, words, sweet words laced with poison traipsing off his tongue fluidly, smoothly.. A withdrawn Khushi is not that attentive to his words and is lost in thought .. Seeing that Khushi is in disquiet , Shyam seizes his moment and immediately grabs her hand , a thing which he would never have dared had she been fully aware ..It is not her feelings, it is his feelings that matter to him...Contrast this, Contrast this with another Gentle man...Yes !! Ladies , I am speaking about Arnav
In the hospital, she comes running into his arms shattered by the news, Arnav might not have provided the solace but he did not take advantage either ...and the second instance , the instance which flashed through Khushi's mind ..is when she has broken down completely broken down and crying piteously, uncaring and least bothered about her immediate environment .. Arnav comes..Does NOT sit close to her a la Shyam.. give space and gently places her hands on her head [ not on shoulders which would have suggested a familiarity or a hint of taking advantage] ..No words ..just a action..A action that went direct to her heart,,An action that comforted her and when she looks at him teary eyed, he looks away not wishing to embarrass her further, allowing her to gather her wits and her poise ...Truly a mark of a GENTLE MAN !!
The next segment that caught my attention was Khushi's reaction to Arnav and Shyam post wedding... she is at ease, happy with a sarcastic Arnav, does not shy away from his touch, expresses her feelings openly while with Shyam she is quite uncomfortable , does not open her mouth, is uneasy with a big fake smile plastered on her face..she moves Away from him !! she instinctively understands his artifice and is repulsed by it..
