Khushi gets him his stress busters to mitigate the stress his relationship with Lavanya was going through. By writing a note on behalf of Lavanya, she lets him think that Lavanya gifted the plants to him and also that she loves him as much as he loves his plants.
Arnav's reaction to the note is pertinent. He closes his eyes and remembers Khushi's words that he never loved Lavanya. He knew that she spoke the truth but he couldn't get over the tears she shed during that interaction. He did not know why her tears disturbed him so much. Why he couldn't stand to see her cry. He decides to make peace with Lavanya, not because he loved her or was moved by her gift or card but because he thought that was what Khushi wanted. When it comes to his personal life, Arnav does not listen to anyone, even his own sister whom he loves the most. Yet, the very same man was willing to listen to Khushi Kumari Gupta. He goes to stop Lavanya from leaving, not because he loves her for he clearly does not, but because it would make Khushi happy.
When he reaches Lavanya's place he overhears Khushi's confident statement that she knows he would come to fetch Lavanya. Under normal circumstances such a statement would have irked him because he wouldn't like to be seen to do what anyone wants (least of all what KKG wants). Yet he remains calm, his eyes never leaving Khushi's face as he searches for her reaction on it. When he sees her break into a broad smile, his face brightens up and his eyes soften, barely hiding his satisfaction at having been responsible for it. Lavanya who is all smiles is clearly out of his vision and he notices her only when she rushes to hug him.
He is not comfortable being hugged and does not know what to do. He gingerly brings up his arms to loosely put them around her. Khushi's smile slowly fades as the first arm goes around Lavanya and by the time he has both his arms around her she breaks into tears.
Arnav looks up to check Khushi's reaction and is surprised to see her in tears again. He did what he did to make her happy and for some unknown reason made her unhappy instead. Khushi baffled him with her reactions much like the time she came to apologise for her pranks. He could not understand her then and he could not understand her now. When she hurriedly left them together, he looked after her and kept wondering what could be going through her mind.
He was not the only one surprised by Khushi's tears. Khushi is equally confused as to why she shed tears of pain when she should be shedding tears of happiness. She could not understand why she was disturbed to see Arnav reunite with Lavanya when she herself had gone to great lengths to ensure it.
Back in their homes, he remembers her tears and she remembers what caused them. The next day Khushi is a real goner. She has the coconut in her hand and searches for it everywhere -much like the answer to her question which lies within herself, but she hasn't realised it yet and tries searching for it outside her.
Now Khushi will do her best to avoid Arnav so that she does not come between him and Lavanya. Would Arnav let her get away from him? I'm sure he would not. If anything he would be more determined to keep her close to him.
