Prachi Desai had the photographers going crazy when she walked the ramp for designer Neeta Lulla at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2011.
Dressed in an embellished lehenga choli, Prachi walked down the ramp after a spell-binding classical dance performance that set the mood for the rest of the show.
"I don't think that there could be a better day. I am so glad that I walked for Neeta. I am very, very fond of all the designs she creates. The first time I wore her dress to the Filmfare Awards and I think that was one of the times when I looked my best and I owe it to Neeta," Prachi said after the show.
Revealing why she got Prachi as the showstopper for her show, Neeta said: "Prachi is the right muse for this kind of look. She is very traditional yet very contemporary."
Neeta's collection at LFW revived the traditional Sri Hastakala Kalamkari, a technique from coastal Andhra, combined with the rich inspiration of the Renaissance.
The collection had a contemporary yet traditional flavour. The fabrics used were light silk, georgettes, silk chiffons, French lace and nets embellished with ethnic craftwork and cutwork of velvet kundan and metal work.
"The embroidery took a long time as it has lots of antique work," said Neeta.
Shabana Azmi, Sridevi and Pooja Bedi, among others, were in the front row for the show.
