Baabi's sharp motherly instincts would be my guess. You know how they say...samajhdaar ko ishaara hee kafi hota hai...that is the case with Baabi. She sussed Kala by her tone, her way of talking and the way she sugary coats everything. After observing such things for some time, one starts to get a feel for the 'wrong' things. Aur AS toh...Dutta se phursat mile toh apne bacchon kee kartooten nazar aayen unhe. 😆

I will stand by my opinion and stick with the statement that Dutta should have been knocked out of his insanity by a mere slap But your point about him having self respect got me thinking. That is perhaps the reason why AS or anyone else have never tried to stop him. But I still think that he was making decisions about someone else's life, tying her in a bond that she did not want to be a part of at that point, in a very horrible fashion. For that, if a mother has to slap her son in public, than so be it. Waise bhi, PN main toh tab tak bohat tamasha ho chuka tha 😆 So a mere slap would have gone unnoticed 😆, and a mother has a right to slap him...I don't think Dutta would have disapproved as such...in fact he is slapped by AS when he returns from the chopper crash in the June 2010 episode. He says nothing. Ok, he wasn't talli...par tab kyun AS ko is baat ka ehsaas hua, that she needed to 'discipline' him? So she has the himmat, to slap him...only for this particular scenario, her mamta for him was bubbling uncontrollably 😆 Nakusha ki toh usse kabhie koi parva hi nahi thi...So I go off on a tangent here :P and have a rant about pendulum AS 😡 She has turned out to be my least favourite character of the show I think. Kala would be I think in terms of 'oh she's the baddie!' But Kala's character is admirable in terms of how it's been sketched. I was maha p***ed 🤬 off the other day at knowing that only when she found out that Nakusha was Dutta's suraksha kavach from dear Purohitji, did she decide to accept Naku as her daughter-in-law...nahi toh she was happy with packing them off with sarees and stuff 👏 No sincerity in her decision whatsoever. Not that in the end, her decision was the be all end all, as Dutta had fully accepted Naku as his wife, and would have insisted on her stay in PN.

But then the whole decision made by AS based on some pandit's reading of Dutta's kundli (no offence to anyone out there who believes in that, it's something I am familiar with) is plain hypocritical. From that point onwards, I believe she has never done anything where someone else will benefit. She may have thought 'I hope everything turns out well for so and so' - only for Dutta has she been in this whirlwind of carrying out rituals and so forth. So my say on AS is that she is not genuine. Her intentions are soley based on her love for Dutta. Now it makes sense why she was so rude with Naku post FR as well. Abhi jis aurat ne ek ladki ko bahu ka darja diya, woh bhi keval apne bete ki zindagi ki liye, she will never have been able to understand any duvidha her daughter-in-law would have been, any trouble she faced. Simply beacause the decision to accept Naku in the first place, was externally influenced. Right? Toh usne kabhie Naku ko samjha hi nahi...ki uska pyar kya he...uska swabhav kaisa he...simple things like that. Anyway, it finally hit her when Kala lost it 😆

So yeah overall, your words about hitting a god like figure in public being wrong I agree with to some extent. But I can never watch anyone silently go about wrecking another girl's life. I have a soft spot for Naku...yeah I might be biased :P but the helpless state she was in, someone should have done something to stop it. Dude, some weddings have violence :P people end up slapping each other in drunken states...at least from what I've heard *scratches head* 😆

Just before this page hits 150, and we start the new thread, I thought I'd share something with those interested, especially Pooja because I know she's a big Mentalist fan like me *high fives* I watched the whole of the 1st wedding and I loved the background score in 1 scene. It was used in The Mentalist.

6.20 onwards the music plays...it clicked a week ago when I watched another scene, with Naku and Babi outside the PN house, leaving after being kicked out, what this bg score was actually based on - there is obviously a variation, but the inspiration is Bach Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major.
