This song seems to be written for lovers like Abhay. Especially , when you know that this inhuman vampire , burning for centuries will perhaps never have any happiness- will perhaps only live on the promise of light. King of the dark . A nocturnal terrified monster clinging to cold walls of loneliness , knowing that perhaps there is just one feeling in this world that will never betray him , never leave him. Having stepped out of the dream that Abhay lived last Saturday , with Piya at a physical distance , he came back to reality. As he sat alone on a bench in the night, outside the college , his dark and somber side returned as he re-introduced the facts to himself'
" Piya, sometimes, I think I should tell you the truth of this relationship. I should not hide anything from you. But I cannot. I have to keep you on that fairy cloud so that I can protect you from Siddharth and other vampire powers . I have to be your shield until this dark phase passes from your life. And then'.when you are safe , I shall leave, Piya. I will go back into the shadows . I will walk away from you forever , so that you can lead a happy normal life."
That is Abhay's truth . His decision. His promise. He gets swayed by his emotions for Piya but he never forgets the fact. The fact that he has been dead for ages and the fact that Piya is yet to live her age. He cannot give her what she wants ' a normal life. We , as an audience , often feel like slapping Abhay when he goes all ping-pong with Piya. But we often forget that its not a guy next door playing games with a girl's heart. It's a damned monster with a heart that wants to beat but cannot. If things are bad for Piya, they are worse for Abhay.
And then, he sights his Piya. Smiling , glowing , loving ' Abhay's Piya. He switches back into his set-up fairytale with Piya and his darkness takes a backseat. Abhay chides her for calling men losers. And Piya, blushing and smiling tells him that he is her darling inhuman loser. It was a joke. But we know how profound that statement ran ' it's the truth. Abhay is , inspite of his heroic garb for the world, is a loser inside . AN INHUMAN LOSER damned to lose, suffer , brood and sleep on Maithli's grave to find solace.
But yeah, Piya giving him that moment where he felt loved by whispering 'sweet nothings' into his ears , making him smile is something that makes Abhay forget that he is a basically a grief thermometer. And Abhay told her , that she had no idea , perhaps she will never have an idea how close he wants to be to her.
Beautiful.
And then, the bloody darkness raising its ugly head to remind Abhay what his purpose is. Days are passing . Full moon nights are approaching. Piya is rapidly changing ' shocking both Abhay and Chaand. Now, she feels a thirst , the vampire bloodline calling her. And Abhay has to stop her from slipping into his darkness without letting her know. He has to save Piya from the darkness , ironically and most importantly , from himself. Fate loves testing Abhay and everytime he goes into the exam , he comes out triumphant but always losing something.
The last frame was a rude reminder to Abhay. A slap of reality on his face. Piya in Kabir's arms . Misha leaving the Abhay-Piya fanclub and trying to find stability for Piya in a stable relationship from a stable guy. Not that she is wrong. I don't blame her. Abhay-Piya's relationship is not normal and its no surprise that nobody 'understands' it. Infact , forbidden fruits are just known for their beauty and enigmatic quality ' nobody knows that they don't like being forbidden. Its just fate.
I am not sure what Abhay was thinking when he saw Piya smiling and laughing in Kabir's arms. Jealousy? Maybe. Thought of giving her a normal life with Kabir. Possibly. Remember , staying true to the original promos and plot, Abhay is supposed to walk away from Piya. Abhay has done it before. He can do it again. Last time, he left , Piya almost died . He had to come back to her. And if he leaves again'..this time, maybe , making Piya hate him after the whole truth is out'.I am not sure if Piya can still forget Abhay.
Yes, Kabir is the most perfect guy for Piya. But there is a small problem. Her heart doesn't seek perfection . Her heart seeks Abhay and it always will , even if she tells her heart not to.
What Abhay is giving Piya in these pink days of a set-up fairytale are , as they say in Vampire Diaries, " a future memory". A future that Abhay thinks him and Piya will never have and a beautiful memory that Abhay has given Piya . The beautiful memory where Abhay told her that he loved her.
So, keep walking, inhuman loser. Keep suffering. Smile once in a while. Be a hero. Be a monster. Hide in the shadows. Keep burning. Keep hurting. We will perhaps never understand you. But we do hope that someday'. Someday, you will be loved , hugged and healed.
