I think it's more abt Kala losing her grip, control and place with Dutta since Naku came n became his wife.
Prior to this Kala wld have never tried to murder Dutta, he was merely her toy and money making machine. Now she has lost her power, unable to manipulate him and no longer holds the position of the person he wld come running to.
Kala is also unable to grasp that Naku's Love is greater than her hatred because to her convoluted mind nothing cld be greater. Kala doesn't like to be loser because she has been one since she lost her dad and then her mother to Dutta. She even lost her sisters and husband's support. So all of this anger, resentment and inferiority is killing her and making her crazier.
