Exactly! You saved me the energy of writing that all up..thanks! :)
Punjabis are usually split in to Hindu Punjabis and Sikh Punjabis. Some Sikh Punjabis choose to wear sindoor and mangalsutra, often it depends on family traditions and culture and often case plays a role too. However I don't think the Sikh religion require the girl to wear a Sindoor and Mangalsutra.

I think the reason Geet wore it is because in India many people view it as a sign of a married women. Similarly, in South India you get Tamil Hindus, Christians and Muslims and you will find that a lot of Tamil Christians wear something called a 'Thali' which is basically what we call a mangalsutra. This is more of a traditional and cultural thing, not so much a religious thing.

1. what are the traditions or ceremonial rites in a punjabi wedding ??

i mean do they fill the maang with sindoor and put the mangalsutra on. or is that something that came thru modern times ???

do they do 3 or 7 phrase ????

after the wedding does the bride put sindoor and mangalsutra on ???

many many thanx in advance for all who respond and read my question. 🤗🤗

First of all ...marriages take place according to religions we follow and not the place we belong to. Though the marriage customs may get influenced from the place you belong to ...the rituals are according to your religion. So if you a Sikh you have Anand Karaj....in a gurudwara sahib with 4 pheras...and Hindus have it according to their rites with seven pheras.

Ok....I think you are getting confused with Sikh wedding and a Punjabi hindu wedding....there is nothing known as Punjabi wedding technically....If you are a hindu and living in Punjab....then you are a Punjabi....but the wedding will be according to Hindu rites.

In a Sikh wedding the symbols of a married woman are not involved i.e. sindoor and mangalsutra. The bride only needs to wear "churras" that too for the initial period only.

In a hindu-punjabi wedding ...the bride and groom being hindus....sindoor is applied and mangalsutra is worn.

In the serial I believe...both Geet and Maan are Hindu punjabis. Handa is both a common surname in both hindus and sikhs. Incase of Maan...even though his name uses the common Sikh middle name "Singh" they appear to hindu-punjabis as his dadi is called Savitri Devi....which is hindu trait. Plus even Khurana is common surname both in sikhs and hindus.

So both being Hindu-punjabis...Geet can be shown with sindoor and mangalsutra

A Sikh Punjabi wedding takes places in the Gurudwara where 4 pheres are taken around the place where the holy book Guru Granth Sahib is placed. There is no Sindoor or Mangalsutra here.

Hindu Punjabis are those who dont tie the turban. A Hindu punjabi wedding takes place by taking usual 7 pheres around the fire while the priest chant the Mantras. Here Sindoor and Mangalsutra rituals takes place.

thats exactly wat i want to say...completly agree wid u..

Well, it depends whether it's a hindu or sikh...

If Hindu - Mangalsutra, sindoor, 7 phere and the fire mandap thingy is a must

If Sikh - Mangalsutra sindoor is there but not a must and it happens in a gurdwara..

So, though, Geet - HSP is a punjabi kudi, but it's unclear whether she's a hindu or a sikh. Her wedding was a hindu wedding and all her lady relations wear sindoor and magasutra and also her before and after marriage (Geet-Dev fake marriage) customs meet Hindu customs.

Maan has alway been a clear Punjabi Sikh but his Dadima creates doubt by practising Hindu beliefs like the Diwali sequence and vrat.

So, it's a total disaster about their religion as most serial has it that way.

But even so, Geet would look great with sindoor and mangalsutra. She would look hot and I wanna see a new makeover for Geet, pls...
