a question for all in the GHSP forum :

i am sorry if this feels like i am invading someone's privacy, its just i am curious to find out what really happens !!!

1. what are the traditions or ceremonial rites in a punjabi wedding ??

i mean do they fill the maang with sindoor and put the mangalsutra on. or is that something that came thru modern times ???

do they do 3 or 7 phrase ????

after the wedding does the bride put sindoor and mangalsutra on ???

Nai punjabi wedding mein maang nai barrtye na he mangal suttar pehnnatye hain and 4 fehrrye lehttye hain but after wedding agar ladkki sindoor lehgna chatti hain toh it's her choice. And kahi punjabi lokk mangalsuttar and sindoor laggta teh hain and i'm punjabi meri sister ve mangalsuttar and sindoor lagga te hain

o yes when geet got married to dev she had her mangalsutra , sindoor & lahenga . so yes she looked like typical bride .

In a punjabi wedding they do put on mangalsutra and sindoor during the wedding. But women do not have to wear a sindoor or mangalsutra on a day to day basis. In a Sikh wedding their is 4 phere.

Well there are two sorts of Punjabi weddings depending on whether it is a Sikh wedding or Hindu Punjabi wedding.

A Sikh Punjabi wedding takes places in the Gurudwara where 4 pheres are taken around the place where the holy book Guru Granth Sahib is placed. There is no Sindoor or Mangalsutra here.

Hindu Punjabis are those who dont tie the turban. A Hindu punjabi wedding takes place by taking usual 7 pheres around the fire while the priest chant the Mantras. Here Sindoor and Mangalsutra rituals takes place.

In a punjabi wedding, people dont usually wear a mangalsutra or sindoor....it just depends on you if u want to wear them
