"ek ajnabee sa ehsas dil ko sataye, shayad yahi toh pyar haibetabiyo me dhadkan meree chal paye, shayad yahi toh pyar hai
kutch bhee kaha naa, kutch bhee suna naa
phir bhee, bechain dil hai humara
behke kadam hai, mushkil mai ham hai
dekho sambhle bhala kaise yara
chahe bina bhee, najdik ham chale aaye
shayad yahi toh pyar hai"

"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me''.."
And that is exactly the kind of love that Siddhant and Riddhima shared. When Siddhant and Riddhima met, they were these scarred, fragile people, scared to hope, scared to love, scared to live. While Siddhant was nursing a broken heart, Riddhima's world, as she knew it, had shattered before her eyes. They were two people disillusioned by life, by love, and by hope. All they knew was disappointment, and pain. So when they met, there was instant hatred. They loathed the sight of each other, and could do anything to hurt the other person. Little did they know that their tumultuous relationship would develop into a beautiful bond, a bond which healed both of them. Sid literally blew life back into Riddhima, he taught her to smile again, to laugh again, to breathe again. He walked in when the rest of the world walked out, he made her happy. He was there for her when she wasn't there for herself, he saw her at her worst, and loved her inspite of it. He loved her without fear, trusted her without questioning, accepted her without change. On the other hand, Riddhima showed him that it was possible for him to love again. She mended his broken heart, and took away all his bitterness and pain, till all that remained in his heart was love for her. Siddhant and Riddhima make the perfect wounded fairytale. They saw each other at their absolute worst, and they learned to heal each other and themselves. They were all about hope, second chances, compassion, and companionship. They may not be the perfect love story, but they make a beautiful life story. Because in the end, when all else fails and is consumed, you always hold on to those times you don't even need to hear the words I love you. And that is exactly what Siddhant and Riddhima shared.
If I had to capture their story in a few words, I'd say that once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering. They didn't get a lifetime together, but what they shared was enough to last several lifetimes. Riddhima put it perfectly, "Sid aur mere beech ka rishta sirf mehsoos kiya ja sakta hai..", "Tumne mujhe pyaar ka matlab sikhaya hai Sid'". They may not be together today, but they awakened each others' hearts, and they touched each others' souls. Elizabeth Gilbert put it perfectly,
"People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave."
And that's what Sid and Riddhima will always be. They were twin souls who were destined to save each other, to heal each other. What they shared was real, and it was beautiful. Theirs' is a story which didn't have a happy ending, but it is one which will live on always, and be remembered and cherished for what it stood for-hope and second chances at life, at love, at happiness.
