Abhays quandary - Page 3

Misti, your comic strip encouraged me to watch that episode and it wasn't a bad episode. Actually, after watching few additional ones, it seems that August was the worst month for Abhay track and it started from the time he moved to PB. Before that his actions were excusable on behalf of his confusion, sudden feelings for Radhika when he had none for anybody. Even in August, if they had turned it the other way by showing his past, guilt feelings, remorse on his behavior towards Radhika, it wouldn't have been too bad. The worst of the the track started with that marriage story and those episodes were intolerable.

Angie actually the creatives messed up Abhay from the beginning. The messing up started when they decided on this character of Abhay and gave him amnesia.Then they based Abays character on what Radhika was before and made him not question facts given to him and blindly follow what has been told to him. Amnesia and not questioning tha past without any valid reason clashed. Radhika had a reason to not question, Abhay did not have the reason. They could have got away with not questioning his past if they had shown Abhays point of view within the first two weeks of his appearance.......shown him in flashback going to look for his parents....they could have shown Rajjan and Kannika feeding him the lies.....getting peope to enact as if the parents are dead, I mean they could have set up the entire scene and Abhay would have believed that due to amnesia......and then Abhay not believing Radhika would have made sense. But then after meeting Radhika he gets this pull towards her (which they showed in their own way), he cannot resist her but he is confused because according to him his parents are dead and so Radhika cannot be his wife.......the Purohits cannot be his family. They could have shown this fight between his brain and heart and he being torn apart.....then his guilt would have set in that he is paying attention to Radhika and not to this family.....then again questions setting in.....I mean they had brillaint oppurtunity with Abhay but messed it up.

All of us had great visions for the complex portrayal of Abhay's character. During different parts of the track all of us came up with ideas how they could bring it round to suit the audience's tastes. By showing the guilt trip of Abhay and his constant attraction for Radhika would definitely have made it a more logical track than making him not questioning about his past. Not only they messed with the story telling they also missed a great opportunity of show-casing Avinash's acting ability in a complex role. Even the flashes which they showed were minimal and it was not continous. At the end the way they brought back his memory was made to look insipid and tasteless with no efforts from his side to get back his memory on his own.
