Sometimes the happiest people you meet are the saddest people you will ever know.
Today , this thought held true for Shilpa. I love all the four characters , ya, ya, even Armaan even though he drives me up the wall at times , lolz'but today's episode was only about Shilpa ' it belonged to her . Even though Sid tried to protect her , even though Riddz poked her wounds open to bleed , it was all about Shilpa , nah, not the stunning bright-eyed mischievous intern ' but a lonely little girl who wishes sometimes that she could clutch her heart so hard that it stopped beating. Today , even Armaan was an extension of Shilpa ' for those few minutes , he was a part of Shilpa. He really was.
The first visual that comes to your mind when you think of today's episode is the happy, bubbly , gregarious , bubblegum girl hopping on a bed in the Children's ward ' a child with children. Yes , the behaviour is unwarranted for a doctor and I cannot say that Riddhima was entirely wrong ' she is unable to comprehend Shilpa's pink bubble. And rules are meant to be followed. Sid tried to protect her like him and Armaan always do against mighty Mrs.Modi but he realized that he could not say much. Shilpa knew she was at fault and was ready for the firing' but what she was not ready for were the choice of words of Riddhima to drive the point home '..Riddhima is harsh at times with her choice of words when bashing people but sometimes she doesn't realize how deep they cut. Not that she is getting some cheap thrills out of hurting Shilpa '. But they have simply always been on a wrong note'..
And as a guilty Shilpa listened to Shilpa, Riddz cut her open where it hurts the most ' FAMILY- LOVED ONES ' UPBRINGING. She blamed Shilpa of reveling in something that the child never had ' she doesn't know how it is like to be loved , to be pampered , to be put to sleep with elderly pats on your head. Shilpa ' an emotional orphan who perhaps never had anyone hug her back. For Riddz , it was easy because she has no idea that she is scolding Shilpa of taking advantage of something that she never had. Riddz had no idea that she is pricking needles in a hollow heart that yearns a filling of love , emotions and compassion'' and off went Riddz , leaving Shilpa frozen in a capsule of ripped vulnerability and a bleeding soul.
The lonely little girl ' who has nobody in her life to even talk to , forget opening her heart to found a corner for herself in the recreation room ' Riddhima's bitterness and her acidic verbal attacks did not leave her alone. Happens. When you invest everything in a loved one and they dump you in a garbage bin ' well, there is no worse feeling in this world than the feeling of being unwanted. Tears rolled down her cheeks , spilling shamelessly from those big , brilliant eyes as she held signs of Shashank , Riddhima in her hands'..once again she felt , or rather hoped that for those few minutes, her heart stops beating , so that this ache stops.
What do people do when they know they cannot express themselves '. When they know that nobody lives to see them smile '. When they know that they are all alone in this world'. They EXPRESS themselves. We all do that. We write , we paint , we talk, we fight , we do a personal sort of madness and it is our secret'. And that is what Shilpa did'. She EXPRESSED her shredded heart and angst-ridden soul'. She danced.
As you see her dance , you don't think about how beautiful she is , how stunning her dance is or how much grace she carries ' no , because it is not about that'. You just look at her emotions that simply blaze up the recreation room ' the anger , the longing , the vulnerability , the innocence , the wounded sentiments ' she simply looks like some sort of tragic epic in motion. And hidden from everyone's eyes, she cries ' the disturbing sobs echoing in the RR'..and alongwith that all harsh words of Riddhima slowly replaced by her first brush of feelings for Armaan ''.Shilpa was simply raw pain in motion , shrouded in feminine grace.
And taking off from Shilpa, Armaan was today Shilpa's extension. When he walked into the recreation room ' he was not shocked, surprised or amused ' he was drawn into the emotional energy whirlpool of Shilpa ' not besotted or attracted but MOVED by this vision of expression of pain '.he had no words to say ' he did not know what to say ' he was, well, Shilpafied at that moment. And then , she collapsed in his arms '.helpless, defeated , vulnerable , broken ' and as she looked up at him with bruised emotions ' she saw HOPE. And that hope fleetingly took her to a fleeting imagined moment where she told him that she loved him''But no, that moment was not real. Armaan maybe her ray of hope but she is not ready to stake her heart yet. She just tore his shirt with her talons , finally letting go of all her emotional frustration and broke down at his feet'..Armaan knew what sat at his feet was his own reflection. He didn't know what had happened , what was wrong but he identified with her pain. Gently , he bent down and made her stand up'..he was totally in her shell at that time' instinctively , his hands went up to wipe her tears and until Shilpa , distanced herself, he did not realize where he had been for those few seconds''He connected to her at the soul level in just one moment of unleashed pain. The second her knee jerked , Armaan reacted , wanting to reach out and hold her until her pain stopped''He simply became a part of her.He maybe hurtful again tomorrow but today he was her blanket.
Armaan did not ask Shilpa the reason for her behaviour'. Because he knew where this lost piece of his own soul was coming from' she came from where he came'..the dark dungeons of a self-purgatory. That is why his endless tenderness to Shilpa for few minutes and that familiar smile'. He really was Shilpa's extension.
All in all , an AMAZING expression of a woman's pain and a brilliant and almost flawless job by the actors, the creatives and the whole team. Shilpa Anand was well, what they call STUPENDOFABULOUSLYFANTASTIC. What a woman! Palki, you can keep hugging her ,. She DID IT!
I may sound depressing but Shilpa's suffocated soul reminded me of the following song from the film Ishqiya'.
" Ab mujhe koi intezaar kahaan
Udhte khwaabon ka aitbaar kahaan."
