Its okay on Desperate Housewives...where the narration is sarcastic, funny and only used to introduce the theme of the episode and exit.

If its going to be all weepy here its going to get irritating very fast

^^ Personally, I don't mind the narration. But then I don't watch Desperate House Wives either so I don't know how it should sound .. 😆
