Leaving your wife because she can't conceive

A man marries a woman.He promised to give her all happiness in life and protect her forever.The wife also loves her husband.She do every possible thing to make her marriage work.But suddenly it is revealed that the woman can never concive as she has some major problems.The man's family get anxious.They want a heir of the family.So they start to force the man to get married again.The man eventually divorces his wife and re-marries.The wife is left all alone.The society as well as her family taunts her.

I would obviously say NO its not right (for all the question).
The family could consider some sort of fertility treatment so that the couple may have kids.

I think that the issue regarding "the need for heirs" is a more debatable topic than "is it right for a man to leave his woman if she cannot conceive"

yes. divorce is meant to make that separation easy...sometimes a man might marry to build a family... so thats perfectly valid.. love is just an illusion.. not to be trusted..

I don't think it is right for a man to leave a woman who cannot conceive. Nor is it right for a woman to leave a man who is shooting blanks.

How about shifting the debate to something more appropriate for todays times.

If a couple cannot conceive - what is the better alternative
1) Adoption
2) Spend money on fertility treatment

If the issue is with the man - what is the better alternative
1) Adoption
2) Sperm donor

If the latter. Should it be
a) anonymous donor
b) Involved donor

If the woman cannot carry pregnancy to term
1) Adopt
2) Find a surrogate

This is trickier as obviously a surrogate cannot be anonymous. What is the role of the surrogate? There is also the matter of defining motherhood. What is motherhood, conception, carrying to term or raising a child?

Where do you come up with these ideas? Is it really because you have such a negative view of human nature or are these soap operas corrupting your mind?
