Chapter 68
Sahil is shocked.
Sahil: papa??
Kishore: haan sahil, i wanna know, main jaanta hoon ke maine tumse vaada kiya tha ke main tumhare aur vedika ke dhoori ke wajah kabhi nahi poochonga, magar aaj..aaj halath he kuch aise hain....sahil tumhari shaadi Aarti se horahe hai, Aarti aur Vedika dost hain, aur us se bari baat yeh hai ke aarti ke cousin, avantika, vedika ke babhi hai, vedika ke parivaar ke saath humara rishta bandhne jaraha hai, aur mein nahi chata ke tumhari aur aarti ke naye zindagi mein tumhare ateeth saaya ban kar saath chale.
Sahil doesn't respond.
Kishore: beta please...batao mujhe...please...
Sahil: yaadh hai papa, chaar saal pehle, Pune mein, valentines ke din, maine aap se kaha tha ke mein vedika ko shaadi kiliye propose karonga...us din award milne ke baadh......(Flash back shown)
Vedika and Sahil are very happy at getting the award. Vedika decides to take the special valentines couple photo of them both hugging each other. She tells Sahil to take the trophy and certificate. They agree and then Sahil takes Vedika out for a candle-light dinner. Vedika is impressed by the effort Sahil has put in for her. She is very happy. She hugs him and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
Vedika: i love you sahil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sahil: i love you too.
Vedika and Sahil have dinner, and then dance slowly to some soft romantic music. Both blend into the environment. Vedika has her hands around Sahil's neck and Sahil has his hands around her waist. Both have their eyes closed and feel each others heart-beat. Sahil then takes Vedika outside the restaurant, they stand hugging each other. Sahil is hugging Vedika from behind. Both are looking up into the sky, admiring the stars.
Sahil: vedika??
Vedika: hmmm
Sahil: (unhugs Vedika, and gets down on his knee) vedika, mein tumse bohat pyar karta hoon, aur is pyar ko ek atoot rishte mein badal na chata hoon , main tumse shaadi karna chata hoon vedika, (Vedika smiles) mujhse shaadi karogi??? (takes out a box of ring)
Suddenly fireworks off, they both look at the sky, a red heart forms, and in it, it says Will You Marry Me?...Vedika is soo happy, she turns and looks at Sahil.
Vedika: (is speechless and too happy) haan!!!!!!!!!!
Sahil is very happy, he puts the ring on her finger. He stands up and they both hug. Sahil picks her up and swings her around whilst hugging her. Both are very happy.(Flash back ends for a bit)
Kishore: agar vedika maangaye thi, to phir problem kya thi??
Sahil: (with a sad face) problem?? problem nahi dad, bhagwaan ka faisla samjho.
Kishore: kya matlab??
Sahil: matlab....(flash back shown again)
Sahil and Vedika go college one day, Sahil isn't feeling well and gets very severe headaches. Vedika is worried and requests Sahil to go and see the doctor. Sahil agrees, and goes to the doctor after college, Vedika doesn't go with him as she has to go home to Uma, for some urgent work. Sahil promises to go and visits the doctor. Doctor takes some tests and tells him to come back in a few days to see the results, and gives him some medicine. Sahil goes home and after taking the medicine feels much more relaxed. He talks to Vedika on the phone, who is relieved that he is feeling better, but still worried about the reports. After a few days, Sahil goes to pick up the results.
Doctor: i think you should sit down for a while
Sahil: sorry doctor, i don't have much time,actually i promised my fiance that i will meet her at lunch, aur mujhe dheer horahe hai...
Doctor: teekh hai to phir tum kisi aur din ajana, kyunki tumse baat karna bohat zaroori hai
Sahil: (looks a bit worried) kya baat hai doctor? anything serious
Doctor: yes and it's very serious
Sahil: (shocked) kya??...kya baat hai?
Doctor: (signs) sahil...sahil tumhe cancer hai
Sahil is shocked.
Doctor: tumhe brain tumor hai
Sahil is shocked.
Doctor: and your at the last stage...
Sahil is shocked.
Doctor: tum zyaada se zyaada sirf teen mahene jiyoge.
Sahil is shocked.
Doctor: im sorry Sahil...magar tumhe is sach ko maana parega, tumne apna check up karane mein bohat dheer kardi...tumhara tumor ab last stage par poonch chukha hai, aur ab koi bhi treatment tumhe teekh nahi kar sakhti.
Sahil is shocked. He takes the reports and leaves. He is walking out the hospital. He keeps remembering doctors words. Doctors words echo in his ears. Vedika's image keeps on appearing in front of his eyes. He is in total shock. He drives home, and doesn't go college that day. He is lost in his thoughts all day.
Sahil: (to himself) mein vedika ke zindagi barbaadh nahi kar sakhta...mein apne khush kiliye uski zindagi nark nahi bana sakhta...mein vedika ko suhagan ke roop mein dekhna chata hoon, vidva (widow) ke roop mein nahi...(he has tears in his eyes and looks at Vedika's photo) mujhe maaf kardena vedika...mein majboor hoon.
Sahil hugs Vedika's photo and cries. Days go by and Vedika is upset on hearing no news, she's been trying to call him, but he doesn't take her calls and has not been coming to college either. vedika is heart broken, she's even come down to his house once or twice, but sahil had beforehand told his servants to tell vedika that he is not at home. One day Vedika comes to Sahil's house, servant says he is upstairs. Vedika is happy and goes upstairs to Sahil's room, but before she enters she hears a girls voice, she opens the door a little and is shocked to see Sonia (College tart) in Sahil's bedroom. Sonia has her arms around Sahil's neck and he has his hands around her waist. Sahil is declaring his love for Sonia. She tells him to cut the crap as she knows he loves Vedika. Sahil laughs at her when she says this and says that
Sahil: i've only been having a time pass with Vedika, i don't really love her....i really love you (pushing sonia more closer to him) vedika is one of the most difficult girls to woo, so i took it up as a challenge and finally won her heart. she couldn't resist my charms for long.
Vedika is shocked to hear this. Sonia hugs Sahil and says she loves him. Sahil says he loves her too. Vedika is shocked and comes into the room. Sahil pretends to be shocked to see her.
Sahil: vedika??? tum?? tum kab aaye??
Vedika: (with tears in her eyes and is very angry) jab tum isi apne jhooti pyar ka ikraar karahe thi thab
Sahil looks at Sonia.
Sahil: dekho vedika...(walks closer to Vedika)
Vedika: (gets angry and slaps him across his face really hard) dekhliya jo dekhna tha maine...don;t you ever dare try to meet me again sahil..don't you ever dare...i hate you sahil..i just hate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hate you echos a few times. Sonia is shocked. Vedika leaves the house crying. Sahil is upset too.
Sahil: tum ab ja sakhti ho
Sonia leaves and looks a bit upset too. Sahil cries over Vedika photo. He remembers past moments. After a few days, doctor calls Sahil.
Sahil: yes doctor
Doctor: sahil can you please come to meet me today.
Sahil: ya sure.
Sahil goes to meet doctor. The doctor apologies and tells him that his report got mixed up with another patients report. Sahil's report is here, doctor shows him. doctor says sahil is normal, the brain tumor report was the other patients.
Doctor: you are perfectly alright sahil..im sorry about the misunderstanding.
Sahil is shocked. He runs from the hospital and comes to the college, he asks about Vedika.
Vedika's friends say she is leaving the city today. Sahil is shocked. He goes to her house but he misses them. The house watchman says they have gone to the station. Sahil runs there too, but the train has left and he breaks down completely. his world comes crashing down in one moment. Flashback ends, with Sahil crying on the floor.
Sahil: aur bas, ek he pal mein meri saari dunya bikhar ke rehgaye....ek misunderstanding ne mujhse mera pyar cheenliya.
Kishore: kya tumne ushi dhoondne ki koshish nahi ke??
Sahil: ke thi papa...bohat koshish ke, magar vo kehte haina, waqt se pehle aur kismat se zyaada insaan ko kabhi kuch nahi milta....meri kismat mein vedika ko phir se milna, usi pana likha he nahi tha.
Kishore: (shocked and has tears in his eyes) itna sabh kuch hogaya aur tumne mujhe bataya thak nahi
Sahil: kya batata dad?? yahi ke aap ka beta zindagi ke is laraye mein haar gaya... ya phir yeh kehta ke aap ke bete ne pyar to kiya, pyar ka ikraar bhi kiya, pyar ko paya bhi magar phir khoo diya....
Kishore is very sad.
Sahil: nahi papa, mein yeh sabh nahi bata sakhta tha, isliye maine vedika ko bhoolne ke bohat koshish ke, magar kabhi bolah nahi paya.
Kishore: aur ab??
Sahil: ab kya dad?? ab jab mulaqat huwe hai to vedika kisi aur ki patni ban chukhe hai, aur vo dhruv se bohat pyar karti hai...aur dhruv bhi bohat karta hai
Kishore: kya vedika ko is sach ka pata hai
Sahil: nahi dad, aur ushi is baat ka pata chalna bhi nahi chaheye...promise me dad, aap vedika ko kuch nahi batayenge.
Kishore: sahil??
Sahil: promise me dad...please...waise bhi vedika ko sach bata kar humein kuch nah milega...vedika ke zindagi mein dhruv hai aur meri zindagi mein aarti...ab in sabh baaton ka koi matlab nahi hai
Kishore: teekh hai, i promise
Sahil cries and hugs Kishore. Both hug each other. Sahil is very upset and cries. Kishore looks at Vedika's photo. He has a confused and sad look on his face.
