I am reading kite runner right now.Only few pages to go.Its really intense and I felt so depressed after reading half of it that i took a break for couple of days and then continued again. Its such a sad story..I actually cried while reading some of the portions.I had NEVER cried while reading a book.........but while reading,I couldnot control myself.Even though it is a fictional story, there are so many things that actually happened(and it is still happening),and for me that was the most saddest part.
I just finished it.Its my favourite book now.I loved it and now I would like to see the movie.the scene you have described is the most emotional part of the novel. It was heart-wrenching.Hassan may be the most lovable character that was ever written,I felt so sad for him.Nobody deserves a life like that.I am searching for the book u have mentioned and I am dying to read it.Originally posted by: PhoeniXof_Hades
We are on the same boat, then. 😆 I was so depressed, that my mom and sis were constantly asking questions like, "What happened", "Are you feeling bad", "Are you ill", etc etc. 😆 Gosh, I too usually don't cry reading books, but I shed buckets reading it. Scenes like the one where Amir throws the pomegranate at Hassan, etc will just melt your heart. Amir and Hassan - the sultans of Kabul. 😭
But personally, it wasn't the molestation or abuse which I found distributing; it was the mentality of characters who feel such acts are justifiable which I found nauseating. Amir never really grew as a character for me.
After you are done with this, read A thousand Splendid Suns. Another masterpiece by the same author.

The Kite Runner is my favo[u]rite book, too. Reading and rereading the book in the winter is few of the things I love to do. Especially in winter - the chilly weather totally makes for a Kite-Runner experience. The throwing of the pomegranates is , by far, the most emotional scene in the book, and if I may say - the most emotional scene ever penned down by any author.
If you are looking for a The-Kite-Runner sort of story, then you'll be disappointing with A thousand Splendid Suns. While that book is very good, it is nowhere near to The Kite Runner in its quality and depth - well, at least in my opinion. But we shall discuss it once you are done with it.
