Would you find this offensive?

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping to get the honest opinions of fellow members. I'm white, though I have many south asian friends. I have always thought Saris are absolutely stunning with their colors, decorations and embroidery. I have a special occasion coming up and I was thinking of wearing a Sari, simply because I think they're beautiful. As an indian person where a Sari is traditional dress for women, would you find this offensive that I, a white person, is wearing something that is traditionally indian just because I like it? It is absolutely not my intention to offend anybody or devalue anything, so I would like to know your honest opinion on this.

I wouldn't think it's offensive. I mean alot of people like it when they see a white person wearing indian clothing. I'm saying that from experience. My mom's half italian and half Bengali so when her italian side of the family come to bengali parties wearing indian clothing everyones always saying how it's nice that they like wearing clothes like that. Umm...I just realized I'm blabbering ...sorry

no way, it's totally not offensive! i actually love it when people from different cultures wear indian clothes! i feel that they are aware and open to other culutres!

Its not offensive at all! We like it when we see other cultures wearing our traditional clothes :)

You should wear a dark colored sari, because the contrast would look amazing :)

As others have already mentioned it's not offensive at all. If you feel people look at you weird it's because they are surprised in a good way 😉 No one minds when people from another culture respect theirs.
