I have a little different opinion here, no doubt no one can even think of any replacement of Rafi Saheb, but Summerji, if we are not comparing these two legends than even Lataji is incomparable by all means. She is the voice of Goddess Saraswati. I have heard many claims against her like Suman Kalyanpur or Anuradha Podwal, but no one can come closer to the divinity of her voice. From Mahal to Anpad, Bobby, Satyam Shivam Sundara,Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Rudali, Dilwale Dulhani Le jayenge, Chandni……and thousands more……woh feeling, andaz, awaz ki khanak, sateek sur…..ultimate beauty of female sentiments…I don't think anyone else can replace her. IMO Rafi Saheb is Suraj and Lataji is Chanda…rest others are Stars. 😛

Ah you could be right as most of the good lady singer sound pretty much alike to me.
Undoubtedly Lataji is a great legend and she has achieved a great deal. There must be a very good reason for her to be selected over many other singers of her time.
I am a great fan of several great lady singers and Lataji does rank very high.

Sonu has occupied Rafi's spot pretty well while maintaining his own identity. I loved Rafi as a singer, He was a great singer no doubt. Rafi was far more of a feel singer, his feel can be replaced as long as you have enough training and the feel for the song. Morever the industry hasnt. A huge lot of new generation does not even give a hoot about Rafi because there are pretty good singers like Shankar, KK, Sonu etc.
With Lata it is pretty difficult to duplicate the heights of her voice with the feel she brought to the song.

absolute nonsense. sonu nigam has not OCCUPIED any spot. his nasal tone, poorrange, rotten excuse for versatility shows htt he is nothing near rafi..

when anuradha paudwal came in the md's all said that this was hte next lata.. same in the case for sadhana..

in the case of rafi saab only the retards of the world say such things that sonu is the next rafi.

also no amt of training can help u sing rafis songs well. we all learnt that in sonu's massacre of rafi songs.

Sonuji is good in singing his own songs in his own comfort zone. Compared to Rafi most singers all fall sort and many will sound flat if they attempt a lot of the Rafi songs. So far none really measures up to him. Shankar, KK and all do not really have it. I wish they could measure up.
Mehdi Hassan and Uditji are the other singers who are pretty good. Mehdi for some of his smooth delivery and Uditji for romantic Bollywood numbers with a richness. Rafi and Mehdi would be two of the greatest Hindi male singers. Mehdi is the gazal King and Rafi the Bollywood King. Currently there is still no replacement for Rafi Sahab and it is very sad. But this is made up by contributions from a range of many singers put together.
For lady singers some think that Ashaji was better than Lataji. Anyway I find both equally good but yes Lata ruled as she was tested in many genres. She has proven herself over the years. During the same era Noor Jehan was singing for Pakistan Movies and she too was considered one of the best.
Present day Shreya is ranked number one.

Jada dilpe mat lo yaar,😆 Sonu does not sing nasal, Himesh used to sing, Babul sings Nasal😆

They also said that Vinit kumar in SRGMP he is the next Rafi, itna seriouly nahi lene ka😆

sorry there is never a next anyone, unless you beleive in reincarnation😉, same goes for Lata wannabe clones and people who say they are "next" someone might also qualify as retards in your language"😉

Even Rafi will massacre his own songs if he sings them nonstop for 2 hrs

Yes Vinit was showing great potential but somehow he fizzled out.
Sonuji has sung cetain songs most beautifully. Everyone has a few good hits no doubt including even Himesh and his Mann ka radio.😆
