First of all, thanks a lot to all you regular posters who give constant updates. Have been following the forum for abt 3 months now and it has been really useful. I am Aravind, currently in US, but from Hyderabad.Thanks a lot to all the regular posters nsinha, supremi, pmahesh, adwarakanath, sunsha etc. I dont necessarily agree with what everyone says but the forums woudnt have been the same without all of youđź‘Ź.
I thought the time is right for me to share my thoughts at this stage of srgmp where the top 4 are left. And stick my neck out and make prediction based on my understanding of the indian psyche.
Frankly, I feel all the five who made it to the top are very good in their own right and feel its an apples to oranges kind of comparison when we talk/fight/debate about who among them is better. At this stage, personally I would settle for any of them as eventual winners. I also believe that most people would root for someone for some personal reason,(location, language, region etc). And I am not going to say that I am the most unbiased reviewer. Because the list includes me too. So initially i started off rooting for hema.
Hema : Perfect singing, powerful voice. But two clear problems diction and being south indian. But he has managed to overcome the lack of hype/popularity by being very graceful and sporting. And is peaking in popularity and choice of songs at the right time. Woh lamhe is his turning point.
Vinit : Perfectly suited for getting votes. Lets face it, most people will vote for a song depending on how close to perfection the singer is, with reference to the original song they have heard. And in these terms, he is close to perfect. Plus HR, though I dislike the man, has been sensational in terms of his planning/strategies. Minus: HR again
Nihira: Heard her for the first time when she sang Woh shaam. Holy cow, she was sensational. But I think her problem was that she peaked too early. She sang Hare rama when the others were just getting by. And after that song, there can be no improvement in her from our perception. She set too high a standard initially and succumbed because most people could not see her improving from those lofty expectations.
Debo: Superb voice, suited for playback. I respect people who fight on their own. And he has fought hard throughout the program. He never had the hype, never had any special backing. Adesh seems to have a one point agenda to bring him down and himesh has never failed to mention that he has just the NE backing. All in all, a great human being and a great artist.
Himani: Heard her for the first time when she sang Rock me Baby. Man, she was terrific. Every song she picks, she carries it off amazingly. Biggest strength is knowing her limitations and picking the right songs for her voice. Her song selection and execution kept getting better and hence she overtook nihira.
SRGMP has now reached such a dirty stage that we have dirty linen washed in public and the students ganging up against one contestant. There are numerous conspiracy theories but I still feel Debo will win because of the following reasons.
1. After watching the qawwali round, it has become very clear to the general public that both Adesh and himesh are playing dirty with debo. This will not go unnoticed.
2. Debo apparently received 40 percent votes, an increase from arnd 20 that he was getting. This means not just his constant base, NE, but most other ppl have definitely voted for him.
3. Ismail's credibility has always been beyond question. Yes, he might be emotional, but he does not play games. It is pretty clear that most people now see that HR and AS are just politicians.
4. Indian psyche is to support the underdog. And Debo is clearly being made one. Adesh says "even if he wins, let me see what he can do afterwards". Oh come on now, tumhara koi thikaana nahin, usko barbaad karne pe tule ho.
5. there is a man called GS, ultimately this show is his baby, and he will never want it ruined. He has made enough money now and I feel from now on, he will put his foot down. Especially because it is ending soon and he is fed up with all the dramebaazi.Somehow I see him clipping AS and HRs wings.
6. The walkout staged by the other three will definitely go against hema and vinit.
I know there are conspiracy theories abound, saying that it is fixed and VS will win. But if they are doing public voting, Debo will win. And this time no games will stop him. And I will just say three cheers to him. Ultimately all the five contestants have greatly benefited. And the biggest losers in this sordid drama have been AS and HR. Amen
