You hit big time with Dill Mil Gaye. How has life changed after the serial?
When I was auditioning for the role of Dr Armaan that time itself I knew that this is what I want to do. There was youth connect to this role, it was different from other dailies that I have done so far. It had a lot of drama but in different manner. And, I always wanted to do something thatwould help me connect with the people of our age. Once I was selected, I put my heart and soul to it and I love the way my life is going now. My life has definitely changed after doing Dill Mil Gaye, people relate completely to Dr Armaan and lot of people always keep giving me feedback on my role.
The character of Riddhima was changed mid-way. How is your equation with both of them?
Actually it changed three times. First, it was Shilpa, I didn't know her that well when we started the show but as time passed, we became very good friends then she got out of DMG for her own reasons. Then Sukriti took over as Ridhima. I didn't know her but she is a cute little girl and very good friend. Then came Jenny. She and I go a long way, we have acted in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and know each other for the past five years. It feels great to work with her. My equation has been great with every Ridhima in Dr Armaan's life.
You were one of the most popular participants in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4. Tell us about your experience?
The experience was great; I got to learn a lot of things in JDJ4. I used to shoot the whole day and practise in the nights, it was damn hectic. For almost five months, I slept only for two to three hours in a day. But audience support is what kept me going, it was very encouraging. My fans would message on my blogs and give me encouragement, some of them would come on the sets and meet me personally. Every time our act was not right, we would get thrashing but when votes were declared we were flooded with votes. I loved that.
You are always linked with your co-stars. How does your wife Shraddha react to it?
Shraddha has been in the industry and she knows how rumours are and she understands it. She is cool about it. It's a normal thing for every actor to be linked to his or her co-star and hype a story. This has become part of our lives.
Are you happy with the tag of being a ladies' man?
Yes, of course! I think every male actor who is getting the tag of a ladies' man should be happy. That means we are doing our work properly and getting recognised by our audience.
Having signed on a film, will you opt out of television?
No, I will not opt out of television for my film career. I don't believe that to get something one should leave another thing in their hand. Television is a huge industry and am happy to be a part of it.
Could you tell us something about the film and your role in it?
Actually I can't talk about it as of now, I am contract bound.
How long will you continue with Dill Mil Gaye?
As long as the serial is on air.
So many actors opted out of television to try their luck in films but most have been unsuccessful.They haven't been able to make a comeback on television either. Aren't you apprehensive about that?
It does not bother me at all when television stars don't do well on the big screen since I only think about my personal career and I don't get influenced by other people's achievements or lack of it.
Are you going to do any other reality show in the near future?
Hopefully. Why not!
