Enjoy!
Meher ran her finger through the tangles in Chahat's hair, wondering how the girl had managed to get so messy within barely an hour of the function. Heer Didi had planned such an elaborate even for Rajveer Bhaiya's wedding to Kasak, and Meher had to play the perfect host. But with Chahat running around like the whirlwind that she was, Meher had her hands full. She let her niece go, telling her to behave sternly. Chahat grinned mischievously up at her aunt, making no promises. Meher's heart ached. She got that grin from her youngest Chacha. It never failed in making Meher melt.
Ya Tum Bhi Ho.
Ya Dono Ho Ke,
Bhi Na Hain.
Preet wondered why he had had to come for the wedding, glowering at KulDi for dragging him along with her. PB had managed to avoid the happy occasion, but he had been dragged away from his work (and his thoughts) to the wedding of a girl who was his sister's friend. Not his. He paused though, when he read the sign next to the guestbook.
'Rajveer weds Kasak'
He shook his head. There were many Rajveers' in the world, this could be anyone. Rajveer was a common name.
Still, he wondered.
Ho Bhi Ki Naa Ho.
Ya Kehna Sun-na,
Manaa Hai.
Kasak called her friend to her, gripping Meher's arm tightly. She was nervous about the arrival of one of her oldest friends', the marks on Meher's arms proved that.
An excited squeal from Kasak as a blur raced towards her caused Meher to jump in surprise. She watched her soon-to-be Bhabhi embrace the petite woman. The person who had entered after the blur caught her eye, and she stopped. She could not believe her eyes.
Vahi Bisri Kahaani.
Deewane Ka Kissa,
Ya Phir Ik Deewani.
Preet had rolled his eyes when KulDi had grabbed Kasak into a big hug. It was only the familiar figure beside the bride that kept him from heading straight for a corner. The long hair partially covered her face, but Preet knew, as sure as he knew that he was 6 foot 3, that it was his Meher next to Kasak. When she turned to face him, her hair swaying slightly, his every prayer for the last six years was answered. She paused, astonishment covering her face.
He could scarcely dare to breathe, to utter anything.
Aisa Yeh, Maine Suna Hai.
Meher found herself taking a step forward, then another, and more after that until she was standing barely a hair's breadth away from Preet. She raised her eyes to meet his, wonder in them.
"Meher," he breathed, seemingly unaware that he had spoken aloud.
It broke the spell that had surrounded her. She flung her arms around his neck, burying her face in the crook of his neck. He could feel her smile, where her mouth was pressed against his skin. He laughed, fully and freely after so long.
Ya Tum Bhi Ho.
Ya Dono Ho Ke,
Bhi Na Hain.
The world around them ceased to exist. Never mind that people were staring at the display they had put on, or that KulDi had given a short gasp, and then spotted Heer, who had also seen the couple reunite. For Meher and Preet, all that matters was that someday had come.
Do let me know what you think! And there shall be no more in this series. π
*edited*
It was just pointed out to me that I had put two different names for the bride. I changed it now. Thanks Rakhie!
