Kyun Muskurata Hai Dil, Kyun Gunn Gunaata Hai Dil,
Kyun Sab Chupata Hai Dil, Koi Kahe.
Kyun Shaam Dhalti Nahi, Kyun Pal Guzarta Nahi,
Kyun Subah Jaati Nahi, Koi Kahe.
Heer smiled in her sleep, drowning in intense brown eyes. She hummed in pleasure, cuddling a pillow to her chest. She burrowed further into her bed, wanting to remain there for as long as possible, dreaming of the mysterious handsome stranger who had swept into her life, saving her from extreme embarrassment and pain, and invaded her every thought and breath ever since. She had no idea who he was or where he had come from, but the stranger with the most captivating eyes had taken her over, mind, body and soul. Even as she awoke from her sweet dreams of them riding into the sunset together, the smile continued to play on her lips. Nothing ever brought her down now, not since she had met him. She looked forward to every day, hoping she would catch a glimpse of him.
She sang under her breath as she got ready, and as she prepared breakfast for the family. They had all noticed her chipper mood and her ever-present smile, but only her sister knew the reason, and she never failed to tease her about her 'hero'. Heer would just smile indulgently at her sister, claiming that she was in love, to which Meher would scoff and roll her eyes, asking how her Di could fall in love with someone she knew nothing about. Heer would drift off into her little dream world around that time, talking about fairytales and happy endings.
As Heer left the house for the children's school where she volunteered, she could not help but feel a difference in the air. It seemed all the sweeter, and the flowers looked brighter. She furrowed her brows, wondering why she felt today was going to be exceptionally better. Pushing the thought and feeling out of her mind, she brightly greeted the students. One of them brought her a bouquet shyly. She kissed him on the cheek in thanks. He blushed before scurrying back to his seat. She started them on the song they had been learning the day before.
She sang along with them, weaving in and out of the desks, correcting their pronunciation and tune as and when she needed to. She told them to sing with their hearts, and one of them climbed onto the table in jest and began to sing at the top of his lungs. A few of them began to dance as well. She laughed, twirling with one of the girls. As they danced and sang, she threw the bouquet in the air, and the flowers rained down on them. The children giggled and shouted in glee.
She was still singing as she reached home, the laughter still bright in her eyes. Her father called her into the living room in excitement once he heard the front door close. He introduced her to his best friend, one she had heard about tremendously growing up. She smiled at him and his wife.
"Aur yeh unka bada beta, Prem," Balraj told her, bringing a tall young man forward.
As smiling brown eyes held hers, Heer realised just why this day would go down in history for her.
Aha, Chaahat Ki Manzil.
Do let me know what you thought!
Love,
Radz
