Yes so I was going to write you another one shot, but then you told me you wanted something like this so voila! I tried my best with it and I just hope that you enjoy it! 😃😳 I still CAN NOT believe that you thought we forgot your bday *shakes head* Love you! 😃

🥳HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIFU!!! *hugs* 🥳

She was late; she was late and he was going to kill her, she mentally corrected herself as she ran towards the boardwalk. She was rushing to meet her best friend at their weekly meeting place, sitting on the boardwalk dangling their feet over the river; talking about everything and nothing yet they could sit there in silence and it would be enough as well.

She quickly glanced down at her Blackberry Pearl, checking the time and cringing as she saw it was well past their meeting time at 7. Quickening her pace she turned the corner only to see their spot on the bench occupied by two figures. She inched closer—a feeling in her heart arose that she shouldn't disturb the two and as she got closer her breath got caught.

Rajveer? She thought as he turned his head slightly to tuck the hair of the girl next to him behind her ear. Why was he smiling at her like that? That smile was always for ME, She thought bitterly as she continued to watch them.

"You're sure right?" the girl asked him in a hushed tone.

Rajveer nodded as he looked her deep in the eyes. "It'll be fine,"

"As long as you're not upset," the girl replied, smiling.

She couldn't hear it anymore and she turned away hiding behind the safe corner. Rajveer? With another girl? At THEIR Spot? Then she tried to sort out her feelings. Rajveer tumhara dost hain aur agar woh ek ladki ke saath hai—to isme mujhe kyun problem ho rahi hain? They both had decided to keep some distance between each other—that's why the daily meetings had changed to weekly meeting; meetings that they both desperately looked forward to or so she thought.

She ran back up the boardwalk and settled down in her car as she tried to control the unexplainable tears in her eyes. Why was she crying? She was just his friend. Rajveer was her best friend—and if he had found love she was glad for him. Yet why did she feel like a part of her heart was breaking while she kept flashing back to the way his hand brushed against her cheek and felt more tears fall. Deciding to forget about this whole thing she started her car and drove back home knowing she wouldn't be able to escape him for long.

"Answer the door! I know you're in there yaar—gaadi bahar hain aur tum kahi chalke jaane walo mein se nahi ho," Rajveer yelled through her front door as she couldn't help but smile. This was why they were friends, he knew her better than anyone.

She sighed as she got up to open the door, checking her reflection for any sign of red eyes before she threw open the door raising her eyebrow at him in greeting.

"Can I ask why you weren't at the boardwalk today?" He asks slipping inside the apartment.

"You can ask," she smiled going into the kitchen to make his favourite coffee.

"Okay," He didn't know why but he felt something different about her—as if she was putting on a pretense of some sort. He went into the kitchen after her and held onto her shoulders and looked her straight in the eye. "Why weren't you there?"

"I—I," she stammered trying to avoid his eyes. Every time when she looked into those deep coffee colored brown eyes she could feel herself getting weak but not this time she told herself as she pushed him away slightly. "I got busy with work Raj, tumhe to pata hain kitna hectic hojati hoon,"

"Right," he leaned on the counter while she stirred his coffee. "Are you sure koi aur baat nahin thi?"

"Baat hoti to main kehti na?" She asked, keeping her eyes on the coffee.

Rajveer just shook his head in response. "Agar koi baat hoti—to tum nahi kehti. Tum badal gayi hoon,"

That caught her off guard. Where did he get off telling her she'd changed? HE was the one who didn't return her calls. HE was the one who was always too busy to talk. HE was the one who was with another girl at THEIR place yet he had the nerve to say that SHE'D changed?

"Rajveer," she inhaled a deep breath. "I've not changed—you've changed alright? Tum kabhi phone pe nahi aate aur aaj—"

"Aaj?" Rajveer repeated.

"Forget it," She shook her head and handed him the mug. "Your coffee."

"You can't brush it off like that. What happened today?"

She rolled her eyes in response. "There's no point arguing over it Raj."

"I want to know." He put his mug on the counter.

"Forget it,"

He grabs hold of her arm and brings her closer to him. "I want to know," he enunciated every word for her.

The expression on his face terrified her for some reason. She had never seen him in so much anger—maybe things between them WERE changing.

"I—came,"

"Where?" He growled.

"To the board—boardwalk," She sighed. "But I saw you there—with someone."

Rajveer released his grip on her as he thought about what she had just said. "With someone?" he repeated and then he hits his head. "You saw—you saw Sanju,"

"Sa—Sanju?" she asked.

Rajveer nods. "She's my little sister's best friend. Aaj hi aayi hain—do dino ke liye rehne ki jaaga chathi thi,"

"Aur tumne to dedi hogi na?" she asked sarcastically. "Itne giving jo ho?"

Rajveer shrugged. "I felt bad for her—having nowhere else to go."

"Right."

"Tumhe kya problem hain?"

"Mujhe?" she shook her head. "Mujhe koi problem nahi hain, but you certainly will have one when it's two months later and she refuses to leave."

"Why do you think that??"

"She seemed the chipku type," she pointed out.

"Right—you know, you're acting like my girlfriend or something," He laughed.

"Wohi to bana chathi hoon," she muttered unaware that he heard every word.

"Phirse kehna," He asked in a soft voice.

"Kya?" she asked mimicking his tone.

"What you just said,"

"I—I,"

"Say it. Shifali once just say it and be honest with yourself." He slowly placed both his hand on either side of her cheeks and she could feel his eyes plead with her.

"I—Rajveer, I don't want to be friends anymore."

That was NOT what he was expecting to hear. He stepped back trying to understand her intentions.

"That's not what I meant—" she waves her hands away. "I mean—I want something MORE,"

He smiled. That sounded a LOT better, He stepped back closer to her and leaned his forehead down on hers. "Are you sure?"

Shifali nodded. "I don't think I've been surer of anything,"

That was all he needed to hear before he grasped her in a hug. She had said the words he longed to hear since they were younger. "When," he whispered into her hair.

"I'm not sure," Shifali said as they broke apart knowing exactly what he was asking about. "I think it's been like that forever in my heart—but my pagal brain just understood it tonight,"

"I'm glad it did," he leaned down and kissed her forehead tenderly.

"I'm sorry,"

"For what?" He asked her.

"That outburst," Shifali winced. "It wasn't exactly good."

"No—but you forget. Bade bade deshon mein aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain," he laughed as she smiled watching him gazing down at her. Rajveer was the one who ruled her heart. He was the one she was meant to be with since before she herself had known. This was the way everything was meant to end up.

So? *cringes* Did the bday girl like it? 😳 I hope everyone else enjoyed it too! 😃 Happy Birthday again Shifu! 😃 *hugs*

Am backkkk! That was such an adorable plot bunny and you wrote it so so so beautifully. The conversation flowed so naturally that iI felt I was standing beside them, watching the whole thing unfold. I loved it. Such a cute SS.
