i was highly disappointed with the judge's comments on deepak's yakshagana act....here was a brilliant opportunity for them to create more awareness for this brilliant dance form of south india..instead dey practically grilled deepak's guru with questions such as is der only one mudra?...now i don't have any problem with the questions but considering that both d judges didn't have any idea abt d dance form..dey shouldn't have been sitting der telling deepak dat how come he had done only a single hand mudra..i mean dey didn't even know d dance form is known as yakshagana...vaibhavi thought it was kathakali

my question is shouldn't judges do sum research of their own before judging sum performance...aren't d judges pre-informed abt d kind of dance performance each contestant was supposed to do??....if dey don't have any idea abt d dance form or wat kind of preparation goes into wearing d costume or perfecting d mudras...how can dey judge d performance at all?..it was so pathetic watching them girlling deepak's guru who must have perfected dat art for years!!
i know dey gave dem good marks..even though i felt parul hardly danced and it was a flaw in their whole performance but still it would have been much better if dey had supported those marks with good comments and had given deepak's guru a chance to explain abt d dance form
wouldn't it have been better if one of the judges was a classical dance guru who had sum idea abt the indian dance forms?...dis was a superb opportunity to showcae sum of the gems of our indian culture..and dey just ruined it
i would really love to know ur opinions on this matter

Frankly i have also never seen Yakshagana before......so the whole act of Deepak-Parul intrigued me........i liked their performance......i knew just one thing that it was definitely not Kathakali.....how did Vaibhavi thought it was kathakali i don't know 😕........and i agree that if someone who has knowledge on classical dance was there in the show it would have been better.

there was no co-ordination b/w their marks n comments... especially saroj khan.. n i totally agree they shud do some research before coming to judge...i mean first thing vaibhavi askd deepak was "this was kathakali right" she cudnt even make that out..so how can we expect her to judge the performance properly :S n they spoke so much..calld deepak's guru..what not..n then SK gave her a 10! that lady has lost it...

it was a good peformance by deepak n parul...great effort!

I have seen yakshagana before as i am from Mangalore but that vaibhavi does not even know anything about it and she should at least get her facts right about yakshagana. she was asking if it is kathakali. god these judges are pathetic man.It was good effort and happy to see something different

i agree, the judges apart from juhi didn't comment on the performace as a whole dey didn't say anything about parul's dancing im sure vaibhavi did say something.. but saroj khan's tone of voice i found was a bit rude when she speaking to deepak's guru.. its what i felt. i thought she was gona give a 7 or 8 and she went and gave a 10! but it was a brillant effort by them and i loved the ending. parul looked gorgoues. deepak was brillant.

just my opnion no offence to anyone.

More than the judges don't you guys think they could have just edited that part of showing the judges questioning deepaks guru and actually shown what the dance form was all about.

I don't agree on Parul didn't dance, it's one of her best performances, the judges didn't criticism the performance, but the type of the dance if it's matching the steps that is why they asked Deepak's teacher..........

Problem was judges were not aware of this form of dance.. Saroj Khan rightly pointed out the hand posture and she was right .. Vaibhai has no knowledge niether about kathakali, Mohiniyattam or performed dance Yakshagana to question Deepak.. how can they give marks when they do not have the basic knowledge of these dances..

In kathakali the following are very imporatant

Expressions (Natyam, the component with emphasis on facial expressions)
Dance (Nritham, the component of dance with emphasis on rhythm and movement of hands, legs and body)
Enactment (Nrithyam, the element of drama with emphasis on "mudras", which are hand gestures)

Mudras are very important, if you miss mudra you missed everything..so vaibhai was mistakenly pointing it out to deepak that there was no murdras...

Mohiniyattam is for female dancers..

Yakshagana is an amalgam of the sky with the earth. here is both mystery and robustness about this form in which singing and drumming merge with dancing, and words with gestural interpretation, and players clad in costumes of striking colour and contours.

Here Words with gestural interpretation is imporatant..

where as today's performance of Parul and Deepak, there was no words, so whatever deepak did was right (his guruji taught to him right) ..

So vaibhai's lack of knowledge cost them 1 mark, that is what i feel for this performance..
