Destined to play Dev-Article

Playing a lead role in the most popular show on Zee TV is something that ought to make an actor happy. Avinash Sachdev, a.k.a. Dev of Chhoti Bahu is no exception. Not only is he happy, he also is overwhelmed at the audience response and feels playing the role of Dev was in his destiny. According to the actor, when he was born his name was decided by the astrologers and as luck would have it they selected Dev as his name! Later on, the Dev found place in his surname, and he became known as Avinash Sachdev. "So when I was offered the role of Dev first, I knew it was tailor-made for me and I had to do it," says the actor who had participated in contests like Mr Gujarat, Mr. Baroda and Mr & Miss University before joining the television industry. He had even won the first competition and came amongst the top three in all the other contests.

But he never really thought of making a career in acting during his school days. he was also a good student and had got record marks during his plus two exams in school. "I was even given a gold medal from my school for this," remembers the actor. "After completing my graduation I started preparing for the civil services exam, but within some time realized that it was not my cup of tea. I discussed it with my father and decided to move to Mumbai to try my luck in acting," says Avinash.

Chhoti Bahu is his fourth show and he is very happy with the way the show is progressing. "In a very short span of time, this has become the number one show on Zee today. In fact, I gauged its popularity when we went to shoot near the Red Fort in New Delhi. A crowd gathered there in no time and started shouting 'Dev Dev' after seeing me. I felt very happy and overwhelmed. I hope everyone continues to love me the way they do today," concludes Avinash.
