Aditya Narayan to debut in Vikram Bhatt's film Shaapit

MUMBAI: Aditya Narayan, best know as the anchor of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, has started shooting for his debut film called Shaapit, directed by Vikram Bhatt. The first schedule of the film was a song sequence shot at Filmistaan Studio, which just got over a few days back.

The second schedule will start from 20 April and will carry on till May. The second schedule will be shot at Filmcity after which they will be shooting at different locations at Ooty, Rajasthan and New Zealand.

Shaapit will also see the launch of debutant actress Shewta Agarwal opposite Narayan. Prior to this Agarwal has done some work on television as well as some international projects.

Narayan has earlier acted in films like Pardes and Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai as a child actor. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Narayan said, "Though I have acted in films as a child actor, it feels good to be doing a film as the main lead because this is something I always wanted to do. I chose this film as my debut film because the script was good and I believe it will entertain the audience."

The film, according to Narayan, is an adventure film with a lot of action and lots of special effects. He says, "Though there is a perception that this is a horror film, I would like to clarify that this is not a horror film. It's a film more on the lines of Indiana Jones, but like in Indiana Jones where the chase is always for diamonds etc. here we are chasing a ghost."

Narayan feels that today's audience cannot be fooled with the same old set formula of filmmaking since they are exposed to different genre of films these days. He says, "There are so many big budget films that have failed recently while some smaller films have done well only because they have been written well and made well. Shaapit too is an interesting film and I am sure the audience will enjoy it."

The film is slated to release on 12 February, 2010.
