But the reasons offered for Ragini's rejection were a lot more realistic (not to mention, those reasons were also central to the theme of the show) than the ones offered for Akshara's rejection......You are much more likely to find girls (in India) who were rejected due to their complexion than for just stating that their friends believe they can become good singers........
The fact that Akshara's family has overreacted to her rejection is also something that doesn't help ppl relate to the situation.....
Even the crying on Bidaai is more so understandable and justifiable than the excessive crying on Yeh Rishta.......Ragini suffering through years of colour prejudice and then being repeatedly rejected on the basis of her complexion is a highly relateable ordeal and definately something that warrants her crying.....Sadhna trying for years to please her Mamiji in order to finally feel a mother's love but failing everytime is also heartbreaking and so her tears are also understandable......Akshara's mother wailing like her daughter is about to die just because she was rejected for a marriage proposal that didn't even get past the first stage - not so understandable.....
So very well said, Chronic!
Even though both Bidaai and YRKKH have both been made by the same production house, there is a vast difference in treatment for both the serials.
Bidaai might not be top notch in terms of production value, which YRKKH certainly is, but is miles ahead when it comes to the script, storytelling and characterization. There is a rational behind the characters actions and even though at times, the show does get exaggerated and melodramatic, more or less, it manages to strike a cord with the viewer.
Akshara's character is that of a wimp and not of a fragile and sweet girl that it was supposed to be. Hina Khan does her best to salvage the situation and she is a very talented girl, but how much talent can one show, if all one has to do is cry at the drop of a hat?😕
Also, most viewers are irritated by the whole sequence starting from Rituraj's proposal to the way it has been handled till now. Not only was it highly unrealistic, but also very silly, to put it plainly.
If you are making a show based on Arranged Marriage, at least get your facts straight...
