I don't regret my decision to leave the shows because I didn't have much to do in them. But, I'm missing working in them because of the fantastic team we had. The artistes were so good..
Wasn't there fear of being forgotten by the audiences when you opted out of the shows?
There was no fear of being forgotten when I left the shows. In fact, had I continued doing the shows then people would have forgotten me! And probably forgotten that I know how to act as well! (laughs) They would have said why is she doing this to her career. She's just standing, filling the frame. Actually, many people had even started saying that.
Are you trying to break free from the saas-bahu mould by doing a show like CID Special Bureau?
Yes, I'm trying to break the mould because at the age of 19 I was made a mother in the show. And even though they've mentioned in the dialogues a couple of times that it was a mistake and it just happened and I was this young unwed mother, yet it was hampering my image. At the age of 20 I had started getting calls to play characters mcuh older than my age. That's why I'm doing a show like CID Special Bureau. In that there's no age factor mentioned. I'm not getting typecast and I'm looking cool by the smart clothes I wear. At least I'm playing my age!
You are quite popular for your item numbers on TV...
Yes, but currently I'm not doing any item numbers.
What about movies?
If and when I'm approached with a good role I'll definitely do movies. But just for the heck, I wouldn't do a movie. I don't want to do two to three scenes kind of a role. I'd rather wait for something better to come my way
What's on the personal front?
I'm not seeing anyone because I haven't found anybody appropriate yet!
