'I love garba and dandiya'

The actor is keen to enjoy Navratri despite tight work schedules, reports Shraddha Jahagirdar Saxena

Prachi Desai is enjoying a welcome break from work in Singapore. However, she is soon to return to the city just in time for Navratri. Though she has a schedule packed with work, Prachi loves having fun at festivals.

The girl from a traditional Gujarati family loves Navratri but is surprisingly not too clued in much about the dandiya steps. "I love the garba and dandiya. I studied in a school in Panchgani and hence did not pick up the steps as early as I should have. I have spent most Navratris away from home."

Yet, she does remember enjoying the festival while in junior college. "We could not stay out too late then. My friends taught me a few steps and said that was enough for me to enjoy navratri."

Ask her which is her favourite festival and young Prachi trills out, "I love all. Every festival is a celebration of a different mood. Diwali is all about lights…Holi is colourful and about fun." Festivals for Prachi now mean work. "In the last few years, I have been busy shooting. This year I will be working even through Diwali."

But she adds, "I cannot go out and mix with people now that I am recognised. But, I do enjoy dressing up and spending time with family and friends."

What does dressing up mean to her? "Though I have worn a lot of Indian outfits on TV, I still love lehengas and cholis. Though I do not mind colourful ensembles, my favourites are pastels."

The actor who has just been part of Rock On loves Hindi music. "The song that I liked in Rock On the most was saaso ki zaroorat hai jaise. I love the quick paced dandiya music," she adds. "We've always played Hindi film music with strong rhythmic beats during dandiya-music that sets your feet tapping, any time, any where!"

She looks really nice in a Gujurati outfit. Prachi maybe I can teach you some dhandiya moves. Navratri is definately one of my favorite festivals.
