Happy Vinayaka Chaturthi to all IF members!!
Lord Ganesha as BTji put has numerous stories associated with him
However I woudl Like to share the philosophical significance on the Physical appearance of this Elephant headed God
Elephant : a very strong animal , at the same time an extrmeely gentle Jiva, feeds on Leaves and trees hence does not kill to survive
At the ase tiem when disturbed can cause havoc to shake all the 3 worlds : Hence ganeshji is called GAJANANA
Ganeshjis large head signifies the reflecting head,
Trunk: a very strong organ of the Elephant, helps pull logs of wood, bring down trees , and at the same time even pick up bladed of grass
VAKRATUNDAYA
Ganapatiji's earas are large and winnowing to enableto discrimnate betwween good and evil and the lesson to be learnt here is to haveViveka
Ganehsji's vahan is a rat hence he is reffereed to as MOOSHAKAVAHANA , this siginigifes that all creatures great and small can exist in harmony and moreover the rat is a quick forrted jiva and is able to gnaw thorough all kinds of objects henve wwe too should gnaw out all our worries!!
He has 1 tusk broken hence called EKADANTA , many fables associated with the 1 tusk , most popylar beign he broke it off to scibe the EPIC MahaBaharata as Vedavyasaji was dictating to him. IT is belived that the entire epic took 3 years to scribe. The philosophical signigicance of Ekadanta being nothing is perfect and we should all learn to accept imperfections.
Ganehsji is also associated with his huge Belly: LAMBODARA, one should have a large stomach to have the capacity digest all kinds of things .
happy Ganesh Chaturthi to one and all again and hope every one is enjoying the modkas as partakings !!
