So here I am!!! I have showered, prayed, complained to my mom about the 3 huge boxes of mangos, a huge box of blue berries and some other huge fruit I don't know the name of! The whole house smells like fruits! I am never opening my room door again! Oh and I have eaten a banana .Now I can start!

To start I need to thank a lot of people. Thank you thank you thank you soooo much to the people who always read my ff even though I rarely update! I am sorry for taking such a long time. But I have been pre occupied with other things. To be more honest than that, I just didn't have a urge to write! So with my whole hearted apology here is part 14. I do hope you guys like it. And if you don't I appreciate honest feedback!

Kanya decided to spend the next few days pretending to read sad...VERY sad almost tragic love stories ! It was impossible to keep her mind focused on a book long enough to actually understand what's happening. But as long as she had to stare at the words on the page she figured she might as well choose something that suited her mood. But what can be more tragic than her own love story. Well if it even gets the honor of being called a love story. It ended before it had the chance to start. Kanya almost wants to hide her face from the embarrasment.

R: kya par rahi ho?

Kanya's nails dug into the book ! Just when she thought she can stop thinking about him, he comes to bother her again. When will he learn to leave her alone??

Kanya lets out a sigh. Maybe never.

Without looking at him she holds up the book to her face goes back to staring at the words. Stupid words. What are they saying? she can't focus.

Ranbir comes and sits beside her.

R: aaj mausam kitni aachi hai naa? the sun is out...the wind is nice and cool. And here we are under this.....this huge tree!

Kanya rolls her eyes. Idiot! It's a oak tree. Doesn't even know the name. But she won't open her mouth to correct him.

About 15 minutes later::

Ranbir glanced over her shoulder at the book. Slowly smiling...sad love story??

R: hmm english! I didn't know tum english mein itni weak ho..!

Kanya focused harder on the words, trying hard to ignore his chit chat. But what is he talking about now?? She majored in English!

R: I have been sitting here for atleast 10 mins now and you are still stuck on the same page! Bechari!! Tsk tsk. Main thora madad kaar doon? [Ranbir tries to take the book]

Kanya snaps the book shut. And gets up to walk away.

R: Kanya..[holds her by the arm]

K: Ranbir...[damn it. She promised she wouldn't speak to him] Dekho haath choro!

R: Kyon? [with a hint of amusement]

K: [feeling quite warm all of a sudden] dekho.....[not in the mood to play] dekho I am warning you.

R: Kanya I just want to talk...

K: Ranbir?[trying to free her arm from his hold] Choro [she takes the book and hits Ranbir's hand]

R: Ouch! [shaking his hand. who knew she could use that much force]

Kanya starts walking away trying to hide the satisfaction of seeing him hurt! He deserved it!

R: Kanyaaaa...kanya ruko!

Kanya keeps walking with Ranbir following her!

R: Kanya mujhe tumse baat karna hai.

K: Mujhe tumhari koi baat nahi sunni hain. [walking faster]

R: Kanya....! (getting impatient) Stop acting like a kid all the time!

Kanya should stop and slap him for his comment! She acts like a kid?? He is the one who can't decide what he wants, and still considers everything a toy.

R: Kanya?

K: Go away Ranbir!

Within seconds Ranbir catches upto Kanya. Instead of holding her by the arms he pulls her back by the waist.

K: Ranbir!! [gasps and drops her book] [not in his arms again!!]

Ranbir makes Kanya turn still hoding her very tight while kanya struggles.

R: Abh?? Abh kya? [looks at her with an intense gaze]

K: Ranbir dekho mujhe chod do nahi toh main zor se chillaoongi!

R: tum aisa kuch nahi karogi!

K: Ranbir. Chod do nahi toh main saach much chillaoongi!

R: you wouldn't!

K: akhri baar Ranbir. Choro warna [she pauses to see if he lets her go]

K: Fine! [closes her eyes] Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

She opens her eyes to see if someone came to help her. But no one is around and Ranbir is still holding her!

Ranbir lets her go just for a second to put her above his shoulder!!

K: Ranbir NO!!! Put me down warna main is baar zor se chillaoongi!

R: jitna chillana hai chillao.

K: Aaaaaaaaah!! Ranbir put me down! [kicking with all her force]

Why isn't anyone coming to help her??

Kanya closes her eyes again tries to scream louder! He is still carrying her. Where is he taking her?

After few minutes she is dropped! In the water??

Kanya slowly opens her eyes and looks around.

She is in the pool. And everyone including her own best friend (traitor! Instead of helping her she is partying) is trying to hold their laugh!

R: maine kaha tha na?? I expect paach sau (500) from everyone by the end of the day! [he turns to walk away but stops] Oh my Ira darling, hazar from you since it was you who said "No one can bring kanya to the pool" (mimicking Ira)! Usse le aana toh dur ki baad she is in the pool right with you!

Ranbir looks at Kanya . There is a look of disbelief on her face. He pulls his gaze from hers and walks away without any further words.

In Ranbir's room:::

He didn't know what came over him. He wanted her, he had her. It should be enough to move on but it's hard when she lives under the same roof as him. He wanted to cut this vacation short and leave. But his Mom insisted (more like ordered ) not to! More than that he just didn't want to leave. He tried to ignore Kanya as much he can so there would be no bad vibe between them. He is sure she tried just as hard. The fact that he hasn't seen her face for past 6 days proves that much. In a way he has been glad. The less he sees her the less awkward moments he has to spend.

Then with all the parents gone for few days everyone decided to throw a pool party. Everyone started wondering where kanya was. Ira even put out a bet! And the devil in him took that bet. He wanted to see her. He missed her laugh. he wanted to hear that laugh again.

Ranbir crossed out the page on his laptop. There is no point of looking at it if he is not reading it.

Ranbir gets up from the chair and runs his fingers through his hair. He should drink a glass of water and start again. Another big deal is coming there way. And with all the leading companies after it he has to make sure he gets it. His biggest competition is his own best friend Aryan. Ranbir smiles! While Aryan has fun, it might not be so hard to get this deal. Ranbir goes over to his window to look at the pool.

His eyes go to Aryan. He is wrapping a towel around kanya. She is slightly shivering. He can tell she is trying very hard to hold in the shiver. Ranbir can feel some sort of ache in his chest. He shouldn't have done that. Aryan is trying to warm her up by taking her hand in his. Ranbir sees her look away nodding her head. A slight smile touches her lips, probably to thank Aryan. She slowly pulls her hands away from Aryan. But still shivering. Ira comes to hug her. But Kanya slowly pushes her, and looks away. Kanya?s shivering get stronger. Ranbir has the urge to go down and tell the idiots to take her to her room. She is cold. He wants to go down and take her in his arms and tell her he is sorry. He was stupid for throwing her in the water. His thoughts are interrupted by the sight of Aryan pulling her in his arms. He is trying to warm her up and in order he is holding her close while slightly rubbing her arms. Whatever ache there was in the heart is replaced by something else. Something stronger. And it's not good. Ranbir looks away. He really needs to cut this vacation short! He will wait for his Mom to come back. Aryan can have his fun here while Ranbir goes back to his old life. Ranbir sits back on his chair and goes back to work.

In the pool:

Kanya is trying. She is trying to keep her eyes open. Just as she is trying not to shiver. But all her strength is focused on her tears. She is trying hard not to cry. Aryan is holding her. She should feel warmer, he is trying hard to warm her up, it's not working. Her legs are weak. She would fall if Aryan wasn't there... she feels really cold.....

Kanya opens her eyes. She is on her bed and Ira and Aryan are by her.

Ira: kanya!! [smiling and wiping her tears away]

K: Main yaha..? [trying to sit up]

Ira: woh tum....pool ke paas...[starts to sobb] I am sorry! It's all my fault. You passed out. If I hadn?t told chachu to do that you wouldn't have passed out.

Kanya looks around..slowly trying to get the grasp of the situation.

k: Iraaa! Babe roh maat! It's ok. It's not a big deal

Ira: [crying more] no I am really sorry!

K: [hugging Ira] dekho abh main bhi rona shuru kar dungi! It's was silly and it's over! Main abh bilkul thik hoon. Just thora sa tired hoon.

Ira: but why did you pass out? It's my fault.

K: Nahi Ira! [lovingly] I have been tired lately that's why! Just aise hi mujhe chakkar aagayi! I am fine now! really! [trying to reassure Ira as much as herself]

Ar: Ira abh rona bandh kar do.

Ira: ok! [wiping her tear] ok abh tum aarm karo. Main lights of kar deti hoon. Do you want me to stay with you?

K: no I am fine! [giving her a sincere smile]

Ar: do you want me to stay with you? [winking]

Kanya laughs!

K: maybe!!

Ira: [laughs] oh yea. Aryan ne tumhe upar le ayah!

K: thank you and I am sorry!

Ar: oh no no! tum thik ho jao then give me a back massage. Dekhne se toh lagta hai dhai pound ka bazan hai lekin actually bohut bhari ho!

Kanya lets out a giggle!

K: main bilkul bhari nahi hoon! It must've been the water.

Ar: [smiles] haaaan? water!!

K: but really, thank you!

Ar: you are welcome?..but now go to sleep! [he turns and start walking toward the door but before he leaves] Tum chaho toh main baad mein akar join kar sakta hoon!!

K: [laughs]

Kanya pulls the cover over her and lies down. Her mind starts going over today's events on its own. It's a minor issue. If the story is told it is nothing. But it hurt. A tear rolls down kanya's cheek. She didn't expect Ranbir to carry her just to throw her in the pool. Atleast not after what happened between them. She didn't expect love from him but some sort of respect maybe. Then her thoughts went to Aryan. She should thank him again tomorrow. He was truly her hero today! Without any sort of warning kanya starts sobbing. All the bottled up emotions for past weeks finally seem to come out. It was suppose to be Ranbir!

Aryan went back to his room. He tries to put everything aside, focuses on the new deal. This is a big one. Ranbir took the last one and he won't let it repeat. But in some corner of his mind there is something else. Or someone. It's Kanya. He has always liked her. She seemed nice, she was attractive, she was just what he would look for in a woman. But he never felt anything for her. Nothing more than a friend. There was also Ranbir. He always felt Ranbir had something for her. Atleast that turned out to be a misconception. Something happened today. He doesn?t know what. It must've been when she was shivering and he tried pulling her in his arms so she could warm up. She seemed so fragile and still tried resisting him. He couldn't remember any girl ever resisiting him. They usually throw themselves at him. Then she passed out and when she woke up, he just wanted to stay at her side. Something was pulling him toward her. He finally casts the thoughts aside and goes back to work.----------- to be continued
