That's right, but the main thing here is that I think she had influence with/over Ekta ( I mean the friendly kind ), and plus Ekta actually used to listen. Does she take input from every actor of hers ?

Many actors do not have that advantage, neither do they have the kind of star power to influence scenes & dialogues nor does the ph entertain such requests. Unless it's totally awful, but don't think, even then, actors have much of a say in the script / or how it goes.

Exactly what I said Smriti might have been Ekta's friend & probably had command over what she could and couldn't say. New actors ke paas toh yeh privilege hai hi nahi. They wouldn't dare to say anything for it might offend the producer.
