Yes these converts didn't change their original surnames. Just the first name. Kept their culture same too.

Because of things like these I have now made this line my life mantra.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

This is shocking.. smiley7 Brightest minds of the country dying without a trace. I hope unlike others Dr Ayyappan's family gets answers and closure. Thank you for sharing. This articles is eye opening at the same time heart breaking.. Scientists are the hope for a better future of a nation. What to say ? Speechless at the apathy of our system. Their friends and family as well as the nation deserves answers.

I did not say it is the only reason. The topic being discussed was why NRIs didn't come out supporting India the way non resident Paks did. That was the context. The reasons mentioned were pretty good , but they don't really explain everything nor are the only reasons because as you see all those reasons apply to NRPs as well yet they came out quite strongly vocal about their homeland yet it didn't affect their image at all. So no, maintaining a professional image is not the only reason , if it was at all a factor.

We need to face the truth that NRIs don't care about India the way NRPs care about Pak. Plus, the companies even applaud the NR Pakistanis for standing up for their homeland. NRIs just don't want to do it mostly. Theydwant to play it safe , many even don't want to have anything to do with the country they left . If we look away from this picture , then how can we call ourselves clear minded while calling Paks delusional and brain washed ?

Also, not all non resident Indians work at big corporations that they have to maintain a certain image . Many run small businesses like travel agencies , craft shop , restaurants etc. They were totally mum and diffident in this matter. I checked the Facebook profile of many of them , most didn't even mention the situation at all and some came out preaching for peace efforts even ! No wonder Pak was at a better position in terms of narrative war globally , at least at the beginning.

It's a complex situation with neither one single reason behind this mentality nor is there one single easy full proof solution to it. Complex issues hardly do. Which is why I feel so frustrated when I read people at social media suggesting juvenile one point solutions to complex internal and external problems.

The reason I mentioned is just one of them. Ofcourse it doesn't apply to every NRI situation. There are people who shifted there not due to lack of opportunity, but because they got a better one abroad or they simply wanted to shift abroad for personal reasons. Plus, obviously my point doesn't apply to non UR NRIs.

But it is definitely one of the reasons. I didn't even come up with it. URs running off to abroad because they're aware of their hopeless future in the country is being discussed heavily across sm platforms.

As for your last point , ofcourse there are brainy reserved category students. God doesn't distribute brain based on caste , does he ? But you're not looking at ground reality if you think a non ur student and a ur student achieves the same academic success with even comparable marks.

No, I did not say that. I was saying that according to survery reports, the MAJORITY of reserved students score the general cutoff. I was addressing the misconception that reservedd students mostly pass with lower cutoffs.

As for what you said about NRIs and NRPs, many NRIs took out rallies in their respective lands after the Pahalgam attack. There were mass demonstrations in several places, I remember. Many NRIs I meet online are very patriotic.

During the conflict too, NRIs from all over showed their support online.

The issue is with the big Indian-origin CEOs and business leaders. They're the ones who remain silent; and they are the ones I'm talking about. The reason is that they cannot speak freely on this, is because they might have to face criticism from a large part of their clientele, or from pro-Pak politicians or industry leaders. Usually, it's against the norm for business leaders to speak out on sensitive political issues.

Which state are you from? We have this exact thing in West Bengal named Laxmir Bhandar where women get 2,000 per month. Also a host of other freebies for the economically lower classes.

The freebie system destroys the population and the economy. It breaks their willingness to work and rise up in the ladder; or contribute something to the economy. This is why WB is the quagmire that it is at present-- no jobs, no growth, yet the TMC keeps getting voted to power. This party even siphoned money off from the MGNREGA funds in the state--just imagine.
