Yeah if you're listening to audiobooks, it's not a surprise. I mean I've been in another reading challenge where my team mates only listened to books and they got in double of what I did - like over 40 books. Visual learner here so I can't ever do audio books!

Damn, now I feel bad for excluding Shonali.
Yk, throughout my life I've tried to get into audiobooks but failed. I just got distracted so easily if the book wasn't there right in front of me. I'd be listening and then get busy with something else and then realise that I filtered it all away as background noise 🙈 and then I'd have to try and go back to the place where I last heard it, which is annoying 😐
But recently (just before this challenge came up actually), I decided to take another chance on audiobooks... and this time I think it's working! I started out with short books and juvie fiction, so it was easier to stick through with it. But then I realised ki audiobooks make it easier. Bcz as an adult, I've become the sort of reader who will go back and read the same line/paragraph/chapter again and again and again, trying to just... brand it in my mind. Idek why I do it, but I do. Sometimes I get lost scrutinising the dialog, grammar, writing style, etc but not always. If it's interesting, then the book takes me infinitely longer to finish bcz I just get so obsessed with rereading the parts... and also something in me resists actually ending the book, it just wants it to go on and on. It's a kinda strenuous process mentally, and it's part of the reason why reading has become so hard for me recently, and I was mostly sticking to FFs.
But with audiobooks it just feels more laidback and calm, somehow. I've realised that I need to stop treating it as me "reading a book" and instead consider it as a friend telling me a story; only then it works. Bcz I hate interrupting ppl when they speak, so I don't really get the urge to go back and reread, I just continue to listen in an unbroken flow. This makes things so much easier, and calming for me
Recently, just last week I think, while browsing for books I suddenly realised I'd like to read the audiobook version instead of epub. I was so suprised! Never thought I'd see a day like this 😅
