Yeah. Too young to be old, too old to be young. A target for all.
I'm 17 (will be 18 in 9 days), but honestly? I feel like a retired grandparent watching Gen Alpha speak in some secret alien code. I read their chats and wonder that are these words or WiFi passwords? As someone who still types full sentences with punctuation, I feel like a museum piece. I’m too young to feel this old, but here I am, mentally sipping chai and shaking my head at “slay,” “rizz,” and whatever else they come up with next. Magar abhi toh humaari jawaani shuru bhi nahi hui, and we’re already obsolete!Originally posted by: ThaneOfElsinore
We old souls deserve a dukh-hetu-kandha. I have not yet touched 20 and I still can't understand what they're implying. They're too advanced in their understanding of innuendos than I ever was at their age. Their terms are nothing but random arrangement of English alphabets with multiple consonants without vowels in between. As a lover of English, I can't even pronounce them, let alone comprehend. Sometimes I actually feel they think of us as some sort of senior citizens. Magar abhi toh humne jawaani bhi nahi dekhi. 😭😭😂😂

I am also a millennial. Gen Z's expression of something is hilarious not that I am ridiculing but its like seede seede bolo na why complicating?
As per AI, Pookie means cute, often used as a nickname for a romantic partner or pet suggesting affection and closeness. I saw this after Vaibhavi called Param Pookie in one of the wedding BTS.

@Bold: Same here, dear friend. The word "Rizz' had so much of hype that it became Oxford Dictionary's word of the year! I watch all their conversations with a shrug. Not listen. Watch. Because I can't possibly decode their language. GenAlpha's vocabulary is beyond my comprehensible limits. I do think tech advances more than just material aspects. Tech, internet and everything related has just fast-forwarded our lives and ages, quite literally.
P. S. Happy Birthday, Tanvi, in advance!

Mai toh kehti hoon sab milkar ridicule karte hain.
No need to feel sorry for that. We get it. I believe that language evolves with every generation and this time, it's gone way too much due to it being a largely digital generation. Just like we shrug when we hear GenAlpha, you would be clueless about how we GenZs talk.
Also, I think there has been a fundamental shift in the way we express our thoughts as Millenial, GenZ and GenAlpha. Millennials come across as more direct and have a clearer sense of humour. GenZ has a lot of irony and sarcasm in comedy. Most of our jokes are based on heavy implications and hidden meanings. No wonder you feel like saying, 'seedhe seedhe bolo na'.
GenAlpha is more of ridiculous humour. It borders around senselessness. I am actually surprised that they invented a word that describes their sense of humour aptly: brainrot
Meri toh sirf yeh shikayat hai ki yeh terms kaunsi world and UN conference mein invent hote hain, aur vahan mujhe kyun nahi bulate?! Why am I so clueless regarding my own generation?!

@Bold: A minor correction. Both Star and Colors are now owned by JioStar, a joint venture by Viacom18 and Disney India. So all the copyrights are with the same entity. In a layman's terms, they're absolutely eligible for copying. Also, this plot has been experimented thrice in the past in different mediums so yes, Ghum is glaringly copying. With their slight tweaks because they have to connect it to the previous storyline. No doubts on the copying part please.
Of course, I understand and have seen the gruelling schedule of television writers and showrunners. I also know the fact that they are copying because of the success rate of such shows. But that doesn't allow them the right to not be criticised for such practices. One can also argue that it undermines the original writers and their creativity because plagiarism is a serious offence. I think it's alright to call out the blatant copying because it's wrong in every way possible, even after considering their stressful situations. Sympathy cannot be the criteria for judgements in logical arguments. Understanding the reasons for something doesn't make the action itself immune to criticism.
There's an implicit, bandwagon and pragmatic fallacy in your argument. Just because of knowing the people in the industry does not allow us to categorise such practices into the norm. It's a tendency, not a rule. The argument that "the reason people copy paste the same shows are because they're proven to be a hit" is akin to jumping onto the bandwagon. Just because a concept has been successful in the past doesn't mean that a new show with similarities is not copying it. Popularity is a factor in decision-making, but it doesn't negate the possibility of imitation. Your statement about every episode requiring 5-6 lakhs and so one would rather put money depending upon success rates uses the financial consequences of failure to justify the act of copying. While this is a practical approach to the industry, it doesn't logically negate the fact that a show might be drawing heavily from another source. The potential financial loss doesn't make copying acceptable.
Edit: About public response, I have always believed that relying solely on familiar concepts limits the audience's exposure to new and original storytelling and potentially stifles the growth of the industry. What if there are absolutely no copied, regressive shows on television? The audience would be forced to watch something new. It might be better than today or even worse. But at least it'll will be new. But alas, people, including us, are watching these blatantly plagiarised crapfests with carpet-like characters to the point where many of them hold such views themselves.
