Bhai, mechanical engineering is mainly for guys. Girls don't opt for it unless they have huge interest or couldn't get into other streams due to less score. Nothing to do with progressive here. I did my Bachelor’s and my 1st masters in Biomedical Engineering. In my class, we were 65 out of which 40 were girls. So it really depends. Anyway!!!

I mean, I am not able to imagine the intensity of the problematic scenes as you have already mentioned molestation and related assault, objectification scenes. Could you be a bit more specific? I might be able to get what you're pointing at.

Pavitra, I wrote a reply to your question. But it's a mature post. Please read that mature post. Then you'll understand what I was talking about.

So the boys don't interact much with girls during the gruelling entrance exam preparations and then, finally don't get to meet many girls in their colleges. Awkwardness persists till their 20s. I don't blame them really. Though it seems funny to me sometimes. smiley36

The way movies like 2 states are made it's not the reality.... generally boys get alot of options if they wanna try...we know how to manage gender ratiosmiley36....infact the way they have shown other aspirants coming from reputed institutes going behind Ananya as if they haven't seen girls for their life was funny....

The only thing which was right was half nerdy nature and boys' core attitude.... mechanical and civil are good lines to pursue still Indian PPL look for placements when if seen graph grows exponentially with experience in core fields whereas virtual departments if not updated lose connections....and IES plus entrepreneurship/ research is a very interesting area to work on...

Ps. Language used is not even half of reality....smiley36

I know I know waise bhi most of the girls opt for medical or arts....I was just having fun....I myself belong to STEM and applied maths....

Biomedical still hasn't grew up much in major institutes of India and still looked up of level like metallurgical and other fields....

It's association with medical field concentrated girls ratio....

Absolutely! That's why I can't read IT and Norwegian Wood, at least for now. Now I don't understand why Prajakta Koli (a famous YouTuber and actor) likes Norwegian Wood so much. In fact, Prajakta liked Norwegian Wood so much that she made Vidya Balan read it.

I was the second batch in Biomedical Engineering in chennai. But here in the US, it is well established with lots of opportunities.

Yeah. I wasn't really talking about the movie since I haven't seen it. Films always exaggerate real life dynamics. I know the situation isn't that dire in reality. But the less girls in STEM and especially the core branches of engineering is a real issue. Placements are, however, are on the top of the priority list for students in our country due to the already increasing unemployment. Therefore, the disdain for those fields since one has to wait for some time for career growth. Research fields are absolutely fantastic, I agree! smiley27

Language toh khair kya hi kahen. Asal mein toh shayad logon ke paas itna time bhi nahi hota yeh sab sochne ka. smiley37 I dislike Chetan Bhagat and his novels for the same reason. He doesn't know how to not bluff.

But symbolism shouldn't make readers uncomfortable. I really want to read two insanely popular novels, but I think I need to skip reading them at least for now, because of the disturbing scenes.

I’m not aware of the context of your post but having heard about such scenes I honestly think those scenes are the ones which create a “deep” air about the book ; they are purposely used in the book to create a sensational effect that they think the audience likes — and they are not wrong, it sells too. Purely intended for a dramatic effect. Publishers dig that stuff and writers intentionally or maybe sometimes forced to, include such scenes to make it, for a lack of a better word more saleable.
