These are called as carrot scenes and they are doing this on purpose as they want the older audiences to keep watching in the namesake of such scenes. But ganja ph, viewers are much smarter than you. We wouldn't fall for this.

Why do some extremely renowned authors use disturbing scenes in their books to convey their ideas? I'm not talking about scenes related to molestation. Those scenes are completely fine. I've no problem with those scenes. I'm talking about some really weird and very problematic scenes that don't make sense to me. I like use of symbolism, metaphors, and imagery in books. But symbolism shouldn't make readers uncomfortable. I really want to read two insanely popular novels, but I think I need to skip reading them at least for now, because of the disturbing scenes.

Well, Shirsha, there are quite a lot of types of problematic scenes. Most authors try to induce that for shock value but I couldn't understand the context here. I mean, I am not able to imagine the intensity of the problematic scenes as you have already mentioned molestation and related assault, objectification scenes. Could you be a bit more specific? I might be able to get what you're pointing at.

I am sure that her murder scene might have been shot already. They are just using these already shot scenes wherever appropriate to create curiosity.

I felt the same for Harry Potter infact. The first 3 books were exciting from Goblet of Fire, it became so dark and introduced character killings that it remained no more for kids and became like the Twilight series, adult fantasy. The genre of the HP books completely changed a bit from Prisoner of Azkhaban and totally after Goblet of Fire. Yes, I think sometimes the authors have to change the course due to publications wanting to sell more copies. Dan Brown books have mostly similar issues.

I second that. Like I said, after a book attains immense success, the subsequent sequels are just cash cows. They capitalise on the success of the previous book and the quality changes drastically. Writers and publishers get greedy into making money, thereby introducing multiple shocking, unnecessary and uncomfortable scenes. These help them elevate the publicity the book gets. People start talking about the shock value scenes and many readers get curious to buy it. More talk, more money. Many book series are ruined like that.
