He did look nervous, but glad he didn't go overboard and looked cringey. He did too much Sabya Sabya, so others can blame Sabya if his look gets backlash. 
But I liked this little interaction... looked polite & just enough charming. 
He would have rocked this look in his younger days. Now the stick looks like it's more for his support than as an accessory.
