Raja Hindustani is remake of old classic Jab Jab Phool Khile
Raja Hindustani superhit album by nadeem shravan and karisma kapoor
90s-2000s was all about how women were sanskaari maids and they had mean MILs who treated them badly but they had to make them good kind-hearted in the end. Eg: Dhadkan.
Biwi No. 1 was not at all funny and made me sick to see such a character forgiven.
I hated Raja Hindustani but the songs were good.
Remove the long kissing scene & the film would be a flop even then. There wasn't a single sane character in the whole movie.

I am not justifying that scene. Its just how it came across to me at first. But that line where he goes he would never do that to an Indian girl or sth was problematic. as if for other girls it does not matter.
That was another go to gimmick for movies of 90s and 80s. Manipulating people’s emotions and sense of pride in culture by bringing up how an Indian woman wouldn’t do this or that. Girl being forced into marriage and submits, gets praised because Hindustani Ladki would never disobey her parents. Woman doesn’t listen to every word of her husband, gets told Hindustani Aurat is always a good submissive wife. Girl doesn’t wear a sari or other traditional clothes, gets lectured on how a Hindustani Ladki should dress. Ironically when she does wear a sari the hero pulls at her palu and touches her midriff constantly during a song. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

More than that, the most problematic thing for me was the wife trying to be all sexy and started acting like a seductive mistress to lure back his cheater unfaithful husband.

I guess the film was a BB due to the superhit songs and entertainment quotient ..not bcoz of that zabardasti ka lamba saa chumma 😅

I was watching this insipid movie yesterday and wondered how Karishma won an award for her over the top performance. She was annoying and not...
