He was iconic for many other reasons. Mainly he was shown as anti hero. Not get whitewashed unlike today's mls.
I completely disagree with the notion that only toxic mls are loved, soft mls are not. That's not true.
Itv made toxic characters ASR, asad, rk, raman iconic.
It also made characters like neil (naamkaran), suraj (diya aur bati hum) most loved.
In today's itv too we have many toxic mls. But they are not iconic or loved characters like previous toxic mls. It's because the current toxic mls lack personality. They either do two timing or support their toxic family over fl.
One can make soft ml without making him look bored and gullible. Like neil from naamkaran was one of my fav mls.
I know Suraj is loved by people. But I don't like him because he was not educated. And on the other hand, his wife loved education. She was educated and wanted to become IPS officer. I thought she deserved an educated man as her husband. I thought the male lead and the female lead were not compatible. Please don't get offended. But I don't like uneducated male leads. And here, Neil is a highly educated man. And he is associated with a prestigious profession.
I think Param needs to put on some weight because he looks too thin.

I kind of found him better in this show (now that he has lost some weight)as compared to his other shows where his face was chubby

I am sorry. I don't see it like that. Despite being uneducated, he fulfilled his wife's dream, always been supportive where her educated brother didn't care about her. It proves education can't define personality.
Moreover we have many popular pairs like arshi, shivika where fl is uneducated.
Just take neil from naamkaran, he was green flag, educated, smart, not boring.
Now itv makers lack attention to the characters. Earlier they used to focus on lead characters and their progression now they just don't care.

Ya he looks skinny onscreen...needs to put on some weight

This I'm not sure as he is 36 now so he needs to maintain a youthful look if he wants to get show as a lead. Plus he's not that tall, to thoda bhi weight dikhega us par. But I don't know. Maybe he will look better with more weight. I've always seen him as a lean, youth show actor so I am not sure.

Yes, a lot of people like him. I'm aware of that but I just couldn't like an uneducated male lead like him. I thought the heroine and the hero were not made for each other. They were totally incompatible. Also, he never spoke a word against his mother when she used to taunt the heroine. So, I thought he was spineless as well. Anyways, it's my perspective. My intention is not to hurt your feelings. And I don't know about Naamkaran's male lead because I didn't watch the show.

There needs to be a study on how he looks in his late 20s (that's what I believed) when he is in his mid 30s.
I think Cockroach will make new season of Ghum again
