After all, with how Behzad turned out (you know, the whole “criminal/abuser” narrative about behsad from Bade Abbu when he thrashed ammar), I’m sure she’d be thrilled if Nashwa could ditch that last name. There’s definitely more to this story than meets the eye—it’s not as simple as it looks. Everyone knows Asim had feelings for Bisma, so things are definitely complicated.

As for Dadi, I think she dislikes Nashwa because she’s a lot like her mom—indifferent to her father and with that rebellious streak. But deep down, I don’t think it’s pure hatred; it’s more like fear. She’s worried that Nashwa’s rebellious nature might one day turn against them all.

That's a good counter take.

I had this theory in thread 1... of Bisma being one of Behzaad's victim. That daddu and nani shrugged off under the rug with Bisma's marriage and she just thought herself unworthy of Asim. And that was the that was the reason why Daddi is bitter towards Nashwa. But I ruled this out since Barkhat's husband had asked for Bisma's hand.....

My 2 cents, If Bisma has choosen Asim could Nashwa's legitimacy have been questioned(?) Since everyone knew of Asim Bisma? Also everyone knows Behzaad had terminal illness. Maybe Bisma didn't want that. It was so easy for Barkhat to even judge a harmless Burhan Bisma interaction. Bisma does seem to be careful about these things.. She slapped nashwa when she mentioned second marriage, told Asim to come when everyone was present, became uncomfortable when Burhan approached her in the function but was comfortable patting his head when she went to Beejan.

But also lot of things don't make sense like you said

-Asim and his father was better equipped to help Nanni and Bisma... Why did nani had to be so indebted to to Barkhat bhabhi of all people?

-Why doesn't nani have her own inheritance?

-Why did Beejan and nani allow Barkhat supremacy? Why did Asim's dad have to buy Sabreen villa?

In one of voiceovers we were shown from Bisma's memories bi jaan says something like Barkat bhabhi can afford better lifestyle for Bisma hence Asim should not pursue Behzad's maang! Maybe Barkat's husband was wealthier! He's said to not show discrimination between Asim and Bakhtiar!

If Asim's father was wealthy why would he go after competitive exams etc. I mean to say he could have easily told Bi jaan that they also can offer a better life for Bisma with respect to luxuries!

About Nashwa's treatment, unfortunately yes! With Barkat's obsession with Behzad, Ammar wouldn't have been as important as he's now if Nashwa was a son! And she would have spoiled that son instead, IMO!

But Bisma ka kuch pata nahin! Barkat hated tarakki of both Bisma & Asim because of jealousy, as her children weren't bright! She didn't even let Nashwa praise her mom's academic skills, in defense of discrediting her cooking skills when Bisma was praised by everyone in first episode!

Barkat knowingly chose Bisma for an about to die son Behzad, to treat her like this all her life!

But I do think Nashwa as a son could have taken a strong stand for Bisma at times! And I might sound conflicted when I say this, Barkat would have injected hate for Bisma in Nashwa the son's mind!
